Despite falling just short of victory in last Saturday's Blamey Stakes, Fifty Stars will be following a familiar pattern which saw him take out the 2020 edition of this race.
This is a much weaker race than what he faced and won last year, so he is the deserved favourite in the event.
Paradee keeps on running well while Steel Prince and Chapada were both very good behind that Mare last start and look to improve again second-up.

2021 Australian Cup Tips
Australian Cup 2021 Best Bet - Fifty Stars
I do not see him being beaten in this race to be honest, as a very good horse that is facing opposition who have been okay in weak WFA races and Handicaps.
Fifty Stars was the winner of this last year in a much stronger edition off the back of a Blamey win and was second in that race this year in what was a stronger edition, so arguably that runner-up was better than the win last year heading into this.
Barrier three is the slight concern as he can get buried away in the run and will need a good ride to find the galloping room to finish over the top.
The last time he saw 2000m at Flemington was when he finished second to Arcadia Queen, beating home Melody Belle in a Mackinnon Stakes, so we are talking Australia's best WFA horses here.
Australian Cup 2021 Next Best Bet - Paradee
Is the main danger if she can hold her form for just one more run, as she was simply too good in the Peter Young Stakes and I only see two horses (Steel Prince and Chapada) possibly turning the tables on her here if she turns up again.
Paradee has come on in leaps and bounds all prep, running well at Stakes level through the spring and summer before heading up to Queensland to win two Magic Millions races.
Barrier one could not be anymore perfect for this Mare who will lead them up and try to hold off the late charger, saving the energy and being able to dictate the race to be run her way.
I do feel she will drift closer to jump time (make use of the bet365 Ods Drift Protector) but based on her form alone and not looking too much into how long this prep has been, she is the main danger.
Australian Cup 2021 Value Bet - Steel Prince
I was very impressed with the run of this gelding in the Peter Young Stakes where he held on well when sitting near the pace.
He nearly took out the Naturalism second-up last prep off the back of an average effort first-up, so he looks much fitter this time around and possibly ready to perform like his third-up run last prep when he was incredibly stiff not to beat Persan in the Bart Cummings.
We know when Jamie Kah hops on a Freedman horse it means business, the strike rate is through the roof, so again this is a positive lead.
Steel Prince will likely have to settle a little further back than last start due to the wide gate, but he is quite versatile and if timed to perfection, can be in the charging brigade.
