2021 Caulfield Cup First Acceptances

The 2021 Caulfield Cup first acceptances have been released with 109 horses still in contention to win the word's richest 2400m handicap.
2020 Caulfield Cup winner Verry Elleegant heads the acceptances while the likes of Incentivise, three-time Derby winner Explosive Jack and Victoria Derby winner Johnny Get Angry are other notable horses who have accepted for the $5M event.
As for the internationals, we see just two horses remaining with Spanish Mission and Rodrigo Diaz both accepting. There are major doubts whether they will actually arrive in Australia in time for the race.
Notable horses to have withdrawn at the first acceptances stage include Irish stablemates Twilight Payment and Master of Reality, New Zealand mare Amarelinha and comeback galloper Il Paradiso.
Racing Victoria's released a statement on Tuesday about the Caulfield Cup first acceptors, outlining some major players.
“Of the 109 horses that have accepted for the Caulfield Cup, only the Team Hawkes-trained Mount Popa is currently guaranteed a start in the $5 million showpiece courtesy of his win in the Listed Neds Mornington Cup (2400m) earlier this year," Racing Victoria said.
"The lightly raced import is one of the leading fancies according to bookmakers, along with Incentivise, Verry Elleegant, Queensland Oaks winner Duais and three-time Derby winner Explosive Jack whom all feature among the first acceptances."
