Registered as the Queen of the Turf Stakes since its 1972 introduction, this weight-for-age feature for the fillies and mares over a mile gained Group One status back in 2005.

Now run as the Coolmore Legacy Stakes (since 2016), this is one of the main autumn targets for the females and modern champions to have won this race include Typhoon Tracy and More Joyous.

Probabeel comes back to Mare's level and has been all the rage in the early betting, holding clear favouritism with bookmaker.com.au where $2.45 is currently available.

2021 Coolmore Legacy Stakes Tips

2021 Coolmore Legacy Stakes Best Bet - Probabeel

Although well beaten last start as favourite in the All-Star Mile, she had excuses on a wet track (it  was much heavier than a Soft 6) and off prior form, the star New Zealander is clearly the one to beat in this years Coolmore Legacy Stakes.

Touch wood, the race day rain will stay away this time around for Probabeel (should get to the Good 4 range) who won her two prior starts this campaign, carrying 60kg and racing wide throughout at Caulfield fresh before holding off a champion in Arcadia Queen.

The three-time Group One winner looked to have returned well off a little freshen-up, shaking the cobwebs off with a 1200m trial win at Randwick on April 9 and from barrier six where Kerrin McEvoy can camp midfield, if not a little closer, the map couldn't be any kinder.

2021 Coolmore Legacy Stakes Next Best Bet - Odeum

Given her campaign didn't kick off until March, where she didn't enjoy the best of luck at Flemington, it does appear that this three-year-old had a setback but is slowly building towards a peak, with this Group One perhaps being the target the whole time.

The drop back from 1400m to 1200m was a little unconventional for her first Sydney outing on March 27 and she had every chance, but was out-sprinted late by the handy Isotope, a filly that has much sharper turn-of-foot over the sprint journeys and is one of the smarter three-year-old sprinters of this crop.

Going now from six furlongs to 1600m is again a little unusual, however, the Thousand Guineas winner dominated over this journey for the first time last spring and as one of the more untapped runners in this field, Odeum is one that warrants respect, especially now she has experience on the "other leg".

2021 Coolmore Legacy Stakes Value Bet - Vanna Girl

She was only beaten just over two lengths first-up last campaign despite the eventual tenth placing and recorded the fastest last 600m of the whole Tramway Stakes (33.23) where the daughter of Husson really only got warm over the last fifty metres in a strong return.

That saw Vanna Girl come right into calculations for the Group One Epsom Handicap, where she was a little disappointing but followed that with a third in the Craven Plate behind the subsequent George Ryder winner Think It Over and was luckless in the Group One Empire Rose before being tipped out.

With 59kg on Soft 6, the late betting drift suggested Vanna Girl would need the first-up run in Brisbane but class ultimately prevailed and although a little unsuited by barrier one, she has the services of champion hoop Damien Oliver who will look to pinch runs off a good tempo.

Verdict

Probabeel drops back to Mares grade in the Coolmore Legacy Stakes and is the one to beat as the market suggests.

There's options to save on Odeum and for the each-way punters, Vanna Girl has claims at a big price.
