Saturday's card at Kempton features three Grade Twos. The most important of the trio is the Adonis Hurdle, a juvenile hurdle that has been won by a whole host of future Grade One winners, including Well Chief, Zarkandar and Binocular.

We've taken a look through the ante-post betting and come up with our best betting tips.

Heross Du Seuil made it two-from-two over hurdles when making a winning debut for Nicky Henderson here at Kempton during their Christmas Festival. Nico De Boinville's mount won by 15-lengths, but that margin would have been a lot shorter had Honneur D'Ajonc - who was travelling better than the winner at the time - not fallen at the last.

A win for Honneur D'Ajonc here would give Monmiral's form a boost, as Jane Williams' youngster finished a six-length second behind Paul Nicholls' charge at Exeter. Of the two, I'd favour Honneur D'Ajonc at the prices, but I don't like backing young horses on the back of heavy falls.

Paul Nicholls won this race with a debutante in Solo last year, and Paso Doble could make his first start for Nicholls here. Solo was, however, a two-time hurdles winner in France. Paso Doble reached a rating of 84 running on the flat for Jim Bolger before moving to Ditcheat, and his breeding doesn't suggest the switch to jumping will come naturally.

Hugo Merienne will send two-time hurdles winner, Margaret's Legacy over to England for the Adonis. Ned Curtis has twice made all to win on this keen going sort. I doubt similar tactics will pay off in this much stronger race, and Margaret's Legacy looks a big, galloping type who would be better suited by softer ground.

Herbiers beat Green Book and Table Mountain comfortably at Hereford, but that form doesn't look strong enough. Pyramind Place, Solider On Parade and Marta Des Mottes have won eight hurdles races between them, but all three have suffered 30-length defeats when stepped into Listed company or better.

2021 Adonis Hurdle Tips

The best piece of form on offer here is Tritonic's narrow victory over Casa Loupi at Ascot.

Alan King's favourite had to be nudged along coming down the back-straight, whereas Casa Loupi looked comfortable making the running. Jumping the last, Casa Loupi still held a three-length advantage, but idled a little on the run to the line, and Tritonic swept past to claim an expected win.

You can see why Tritonic is so short in the betting. He was highly rated on the flat and that first outing over hurdles is sure to have brought him forward.

Casa Loupi ran just as well at Ascot, jumping betting than Tritonic for the most part. Margaret's Legacy's presence in the field will mean Gary Moore's charge may be able to take a lead and settle a little better, and who's to say he won't improve for that run.

Casa Loupi appeals more as an each-way prospect at 7/1, than Tritonic does at 11/8. However, I'm going to take a chance and back JOHN LOCKE on debut for the Skeltons.

John Locke won once on the flat last season for Ralph Beckett and Cheveley Park, ending a run of runner-up finishes with a nice victory at Goodwood. He was then snapped up by Sullivan Bloodstock in October, and immediately sent to Dan Skelton.

John Locke is by Mastercraftsman, the same sire as Tolworth winner Metier and a former winner of the Adonis, Master Blueyes. The dam, Sacred Shield has produced plenty of classy horses on the flat, and is herself by a top National Hunt sire in Beat Hollow, who's spawned the likes of Minella Indo and Wicklow Brave.

Skelton has had four months to work on John Locke, and the Skelton's are brilliant at teaching horses to jump. He holds entry in the Triumph Hurdle, so connections clearly think he could make up into a talented jumper.

In a race which seems fairly open, I fancy taking a chance on promising newcomer, John Locke to run well at an appealing each-way price.
