As ITV Racing action at Newbury and Ayr have been moved back to Sunday, as a mark of respect for the Duke Of Edinburgh's funeral, flat racing fans have to look to the Curragh for their big-race action on Saturday.

We've taken a closer look at the three main races on Saturday's card at the Curragh and picked out our best betting tips.

Curragh Tips - Saturday 17th April

Race 1 - Gladness Stakes Tips

Lancaster House bids to retain the title he won last year. The defending champion will have to give weight to the four-year-olds in the field, and that's often telling, as only two of the last 12 renewals of this Group Three have been won by horses older than four.

The one I want to side with is FISCAL RULES, who finished fifth in the Irish Guineas and the Irish Derby last season. Jim Bolger, surprisingly, sent his charge out over six furlongs on his reappearance, and Fiscal Rules ran on well to finish second in the Listed Bloodstock Stakes. He's sure to come on from that run, and this step back up in trip will really suit.

Race 2 - Alleged Stakes Tips

There's no real value to be gained backing Broome, even though the odds-on favourite certainly seems the most likely winner. Instead, I'd rather have an each-way punt on Joseph O'Brien's filly, THUNDERING NIGHTS.

Shane Crosse's mount beat Albigna to win the Snow Fairy over nine furlongs here last season. Thundering Nights then stayed on to finish third behind Cayenne Pepper in the Group Two Blandford Stakes. Having failed to see out 12-furlongs on her final start of the season at Ascot, O'Brien has dropped Thundering Nights back to this more comfortable trip, and she could be open to improvement as a four-year-old this season.

Race 3 - Tesoro Vita Handicap Tips

Tauran Shaman E/W4:15pm Curragh Tesoro Vita Handicap 1mGET 16/1 HERE

TAURAN SHAMAN spent most of last season running in highly lucrative handicaps. Jessica Harrington's charge was the beaten favourite in the Irish Lincolnshire, and went on to place in big Premier Handicaps at Cork and the Galway Festival.

On his final four-year-old start, Tauran Shaman finished strongly to place sixth after missing the break and giving the field a head-start. Harrington's five-year-old makes his return off a six-pound lower mark than where he started last season, and certainly has the ability to contend.
