2024 Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes Runners

Topping the betting for Thursday's feature we find Tabiti, an impressive winner on debut at Newmarket. Soft ground ruled Ralph Beckett's filly out of the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood last week, so Thursday's weather forecast won't fill the Tabiti team with confidence.

Jewelry also made a winning debut last month, bolting up at Newbury having been sent off as a 14/1 outsider. Fellow Newbury winner Troia, and York scorer Greydreambeliever will also defend unbeaten records at Salisbury.

The most experienced runner in the field is Marygate winner Betty Clover, who drops down in class after a lengthy defeat in the Lowther Stakes. Magic Mild will be aiming to seal a hat-trick after back-to-back wins at Newmarket. Miss Fascinator steps up to pattern company for the first time, following her own handicap win on the July course.

The Royal silks will be carried into this year's Dick Poole by Andrew Balding's Handcuffed. Santa Savana and Dream Voyage round off the betting.

Plenty will fancy their chances in this fascinating Group Three. The one who looks most overpriced to me is GREYDREAMBELIEVER (8/1), who clocked an excellent opening RPR of 90 when scoring on debut at York.

Karl Burke's filly settled well, tracking the pacesetter throughout. When Clifford Lee asked her for an effort, Greydreambeliever charged into a commanding lead and comfortably held the fast-finishing Stormy Impact on the run to the line.

Although none of the horses she beat that day have won since, three of the next four across the line suffered narrow defeats next time out, so the form looks solid enough. Burke had runners in this race for the first time 12 months ago, with Dorothy Lawrence finishing a very close second. If she's improved for that debut outing, Greydreambeliever could go one better.
