Our 40 To Follow series features 40 National Hunt horses who look set for successful campaigns in 2021/22. Wins for Eklat De Rire and Go Dante this week meant that five of our nine tracker horses who've run so far this season have won, and three more names to follow make their reappearances on Friday.

Tracker Alert - Friday 29th October

Minella Drama

Donald McCain will have been very impressed with what MINELLA DRAMA produced during his novice hurdles campaign. Following a pair of victories at Sedgefield and Bangor, Brian Hughes' mount was narrowly beaten by Favoir in the Rossington Main before landing a Listed prize at Market Rasen. Minella Drama then rounded off an encouraging season with a runner-up finish behind My Drogo in Grade One company at Aintree.

To see this progressive six-year-old make his chasing debut in a Limited Handicap is quite surprising. There are plenty of level-weighted contests for novices that McCain could target. The only explanation is that he feels Minella Drama is very well treated running off 143 and he should leave this mark far behind as the season unfolds.

A slight drift in the betting this morning is a worry, but I fancy he'll still have too much class for Flic Ou Voyou and Magic Dancer.

Grand Paradis

A big chaser in the making, GRAND PARADIS progressed nicely over the smaller obstacles last season. Gordon Elliott's strapping grey won well second time out at Fairyhouse, before powering clear to win a Grade Three at Thurles on his final start in February.

Jack Kennedy's mount has a Grade One winner in Vanillier, a Grade Two winner in Beacon Edge and the progressive Champagne Gold to worry about. The going is also against Gordon Elliott's five-year-old, who would prefer it to be much softer than yielding.

I'll be taking a watching brief with Grand Paradis today, as he seems to have a tough task on his hands. However, if he does take to chasing as well as we all expect, he could still challenge for the win.

Guardino

A £170k purchase for his owners in February 2020, GUARDINO only appeared twice for an out-of-form Ben Pauling stable last season. Nico De Boinville's mount finished a tired third on soft ground at Carlisle, before holding off a future hurdles winner of Chris Gordon's to score on his second bumper start at Kempton.

Pauling's stable has kicked off this season in much better form, and he's always held Guardino in very high regard. Kielan Woods' mount has been backed in from 6s to 9/2 already this morning, and I'm excited to see how he gets on in what looks a fairly open novice hurdle.
