Ascot will hog most of the limelight on Saturday, as the Berkshire venue stages an enthralling viewing of the Clarence House Chase. We also have the Portman Cup from Taunton, and three races from Haydock, where former Champion Hurdle winner, Buveur D'Air is scheduled to return.

While the track up at Haydock is currently heavy, but raceable, the weather forecast on Friday and Saturday morning isn't kind. Better wait until the outcome of the precautionary inspection at 8am before you place your bets at Haydock!

With that in mind, let's dive straight into our ITV Racing betting tips!

Magic Of Light bids to seal a hat-trick of wins in this Grade Two. Jessica Harrington's mare - who's number one objective is a return to the Grand National - has never faced a rival of ROKSANA'S calibre here at Ascot, though, and Dan Skelton's star is preferred.

Roksana kicked off her final season on the track with a superb win in the West Yorkshire Hurdle. Harry Skelton's mount then went down fighting behind Paisley Park and Thyme Hill in the Long Walk Hurdle here before Christmas.

Those are, easily, the two best pieces of form on offer, and Roksana should win here before going onto the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Race 2 - Rossington Main Novices' Hurdle Tips

With the ground as heavy as it is, and the first four in the betting all liking to be up on the pace, this is going really is going to be hard work for this bunch of novice hurdlers.

Only My Drogo was strong enough to pass Llandinabo Lad in the Kennel Gate, despite Tom Symonds' charge giving weight to the field. The favourite has to carry a penalty again, and I think that extra weight on the long run to the line at Haydock could open the door for MINELLA DRAMA.

Llandinabo Lad beat Minella Drama when the two made their hurdles debuts at Bangor. Minella Drama was giving his rival five pounds that day, and Brian Hughes gave up the ghost pretty quickly after the last.

Since then, Donald McCain's charge has recorded two faultless wins, flashing his tail in the closing stages on both occasions. Minella Drama won by 18-lengths under a penalty on heavy ground the last day, and the runner-up has since come out and run up to an RPR of 133 when securing an emphatic victory of his own.

With Hughes down at Ascot, Sam Twiston-Davies' takes the ride, and he understands the tactics needed to win here at Haydock better than most. There's more to come from this likeable sort.

Race 3 - Holloway's Handicap Hurdle Tips

Over fences, JANIKA is rated 160 and won the Haldon Gold Cup off 162 on his first time out last season. Nicky Henderson has only run his charge once over hurdles in England, and Janika was only beaten six-lengths behind Summerville Boy in the Relkeel Hurdle.

Janika was officially rated 158 in the Relkeel, so to see a rating of just 147 next to his name was a big surprise.

Henderson's star won a couple of handicap hurdles during his time in France, his record fresh is very good, and he's carried in excess of 11-10 on all his previous starts in handicaps in Britain, and never been outside the first four. Although both his Cheltenham Festival entries are over fences, he's more than good enough to win this sort of handicap over the smaller obstacles.

Race 4 - Portman Cup Tips

Despite a couple of notable errors at the final two fences, YALA ENKI had more than enough left in the tank to beat Rock The Kasbah in this race 12 months ago.

Paul Nicholls' chaser comes into this on the back of another placed effort in the Welsh Grand National. The favourite has If The Cap Fits to contend with, who may have run on creditably to pass beaten horses in the Kauto Star, but he's technically 14 pounds worse over fences than hurdles. I can't see Yala Enki getting beat.

Race 4 - Peter Marsh Chase Tips

There were 36 lengths separating Royale Pagaille and CRIEVEHILL when they met at Kempton last time out. Jordan Nailor's mount jumped poorly behind the leaders and faded badly in the closing stages.

A fifth defeat on the bounce has helped Crievehill drop back down to his last winning mark of 145. That win came here at Haydock at the start of last season, when he carried 11-12 to victory in the opening 25-and-a-half-furlong handicap on Betfair Chase day.

In five starts around this track, Crievehill has never been outside the top three, finishing a close second to Lake View Lad in 2018. This is the lowest weight he's ever carried around Haydock, and Sam Twiston-Davies' mount has enough form on heavy ground to suggest he will handle Saturday's conditions.

Race 5 - Handicap Chase Tips

I fancy the chances of WINDSOR AVENUE in this open-looking handicap. Brian Ellison's charge finished ahead of rivals rated in the 150s when following Imperial Aura home on his reappearance at Carlisle, and ran well to place third under 11-11 in the Rowland Meyrick last time out.

Despite staying on gamely under a hefty weight that day, two-and-a-half-miles is clearly his optimum trip. Windsor Avenue's results at Carlisle suggest he could be better going right-handed than left, and the extra staying power he possesses will come in handy at Ascot. Off 147, he looks well-treated.

Race 6 - The New One Unibet Hurdle Tips

There's not much to be gained from backing BUVEUR D'AIR at his current price. The former two-time Champion Hurdle gains weight from both his rivals here. He won on his only previous start at Haydock in a novices' chase, and one of his Cheltenham victories came on heavy ground. If he's anywhere near his best, then this won't be much of a contest.
