ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 8th May

Race 1 - Fillies' Handicap Tips

Ed Walker has put the headgear back on DREAMLOPER, in a bid to help his filly settle a bit better. Despite pulling hard early on, Dreamloper won well over course-and-distance in September, and ran a screamer to finish fourth in a red-hot handicap at Haydock on her reappearance.

Tom Marquand's mount drops back in with her own sex today, and the handicapper has left Dreamloper's mark alone. She should be hard to beat.

Race 2 - Oaks Trial Tips

Being drawn in one isn't ideal, but I still fancy the chances of Hugo Palmer's OCEAN ROAD. Palmer's filly finished second behind favourite for next week's Musidora Stakes, Noon Star on debut at Nottingham, before comfortably breaking her maiden tag under a hands-and-heels ride on the all-weather track at Lingfield.

Ocean Road is by former Epsom Derby winner Australia, and her half-sister, Wigmore Hall travelled to Australia to win a Grade One over 12 furlongs for Michael Bell in 2012. Palmer's horses have started the season in good form, and Ocean Road is a filly with a great amount of potential.

Race 3 - Buckhounds Stakes Tips

It could be worth taking an each-way punt on LAAFY, who beat the future November Handicap winner, On To Victory when carrying top-weight in a handicap over course-and-distance last season.

Sir Michael Stoute's four-year-old finished fourth on his reappearance in the Further Flight Stakes. The winner, Sir Ron Priestley has since won the Jockey Club Stakes and the runner-up, Ocean Wind came up just a length short of Stradivarius next time out, so the form of that race looks very strong. A wide draw is often a bonus over the middle distances here at Ascot, and if Laafy has come on from his reappearance, then he can lay down a challenge.

Race 4 - Derby Trial Tips

ADAYAR was my each-way selection in the Classic Trial at Sandown when he made his reappearance. I thought, fleetingly, that Charlie Appleby's colt had timed his charge perfectly, only for Alenquer to pull out a little extra in the closing stages.

A big, strapping horse with a high knee action, rain-softened ground over this 13-and-a-half-furlong trip is really going to suit William Buick's mount. I'm firmly in the Adayar camp.

Race 5 - Swinton Handicap Hurdle Tips

While it's easy to make a strong case for Copperless, I'd rather take a punt on CORMIER at a much longer price. Brian Ellison's five-year-old brushed the talented Favoir aside when winning on his hurdles debut at Uttoxeter in October, and followed up with an even more impressive win under a penalty at Fakenham.

Cormier then stayed on from the rear to finish seventh in the Greatwood at Cheltenham, and clearly hated heavy ground on his most recent start at Ascot. Conditions at Haydock will be much more suitable. Cormier comes here fresh, and the long home straight often suits horses that like to come from off the pace.

Race 6 - Chartwell Fillies' Stakes Tips

Andrew Balding pitched BOUNCE THE BLUES into a deep renewal of the Doncaster Mile on her reappearance. Drawn in stall one, Ben Curtis had to weave his way past rivals to find the perfect position. With two furlongs to travel, Bounce The Blues moved menacingly into contention, but didn't have the strength to compete with some classy colts in the closing stages and finished a creditable fifth.

On her final start in Ireland last season, Bounce The Blues won a Listed seven furlong on soft ground, so trip and ground conditions on Saturday should be perfect. Balding's recruit has run well on all three starts for the stable, and I'm confident Bounce The Blues is the classiest filly in this race.

Race 8 - Novibet Handicap Tips

TURN ON THE CHARM ran a blinder behind three classy sorts on his reappearance at Nottingham last month. Two of the three who finished ahead of him won next time out, and the winner and third both placed in the lucrative Thirsk Hunt Cup a couple of weeks later.

James Fanshawe's mount hasn't run over a trip shorter than a mile for a while, but softer ground would emphasise his staying ability. A reproduction of that run at Nottingham would be enough to win here.

Race 9 - tote Handicap Tips

Aced It E/W4:15pm Ascot tote+ Exclusively At tote.co.uk Handicap (Class 3) 1m4fGET 8/1 HERE

Camilla Poulton isn't a name many people will recognise. Poulton has trained just three winners since taking out a sole license in 2018 and her runner here, ACED IT has handed her two of those this year.

First, Aced It - who was formerly trained by John Oxx and Joseph O'Brien - flew home to win at Kempton in February. Poulton's five-year-old transferred that form to the turf at Doncaster in March, staying on gamely to claim his second win in a row. Andrea Atzeni's mount has been drawn well in stall 11 and there still seems to be some wiggle-room in his rating.
