ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 12th June

Race 1 - Racing Welfare Handicap Tips

REBEL AT DAWN has to give plenty of weight to the field here, but Karl Burke's three-year-old is drawn well and a four-pound rise for a one-length Class Three victory at Nottingham last time out doesn't seem harsh. Richard Kingscote has twice finished third on this son of Dandy Man, and he knows Chester like the back of his hand. I can't see past the favourite in the opener.

Race 2 - Queen Mother's Cup Tips

After a couple of poor efforts in the National Hunt racing sphere, CARLOS FELIX has looked much more comfortable since returning to the flat. Phil Kirby's four-year-old has twice run well at Chester off this mark, including a runner-up finish on his reappearance in May, and top amateur jockey, Gina Andrews has been booked to take the ride.

Race 3 - Scurry Stakes Tips

If STEEL BULL can recapture the best of his juvenile form, then he could be the one to beat in this Listed sprint. Michael O'Callaghan's young sprinter went into the Group One Phoenix Stakes as a 9/2 shot, having won the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last year, but whacked his head in the stalls and broke two teeth before going on to finish seventh.

Steel Bull was only beaten two lengths in the Flying Childers in September, and was never really traveling on very slow ground at Naas on his reappearance. O'Callaghan has fitted a tongue-tie for the first time and, if that works, 6/1 could look huge come the end of the race.

Race 4 - JCB Handicap Tips

Richard Hannon always spoke very highly of MANIGORDO, and Tim Easterby seems to have turned this four-year-old into a fairly solid sprinter. If you discount that run here at York where he hated the soft ground, Manigordo has won really well at Thirsk and placed third in a very competitive race at Hamilton last time out.

The handicapper has dropped David Allen's mount a pound after that good effort nine days ago, and Manigordo holds plenty of each-way appeal at 15/2.

Race 5 - Coral Handicap Tips

LATEST GENERATION finished a good third behind One Ruler and Maximal when he made his debut here at Sandown last season. Simon Crisford's charge could only finish sixth behind the future Dante winner, Hurricane Lane on his reappearance, but James Doyle's mount was far too keen that day. Dropping back in trip seems smart and Crisford's three-year-old has a big pull at the weights over his elders.

Race 6 - Grand Cup Stakes Tips

David O'Meara will have been slightly surprised when MAKAWEE was beaten by Tribal Craft in the Bronte Cup. O'Meara's mare had beaten that same rival by five lengths when they met in a handicap at Goodwood back in September, for which Makawee was handed an RPR of 108. Jim Crowley's mount will be getting weight from the colts here, and she brings some strong Listed form to the table.

Race 7 - Handicap Tips

I'm prepared to give another chance to SIDE SHOT who, like many of John Gosden's horses, clearly hated the heavy ground at Haydock on his most recent outing. Before that, Side Shot had looked progressive, winning a competitive handicap on quicker ground at Doncaster. This is more of a conditions race than a handicap, so the fact he's top-weight won't matter too much.

Race 8 - Catherine Memorial Sprint Handicap Tips

SEVEN BROTHERS won here over course-and-distance last season, before finishing eighth in the Gimcrack Stakes. Following a narrow win on his reappearance, Kevin Ryan's charge entered the Heed Your Hunch Handicap at Newmarket, where he finished a well-beaten eleventh.

That result, however, doesn't tell the whole story. Just as Kevin Stott was starting to mount a challenge from the rear, Seven Brothers found his path to the post blocked repeatedly, and he was allowed to coast home in the final furlong. Kevin Ryan's three-year-old remains well-treated and boasts some useful course form. 14/1 is a very tempting price.
