ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 29th May

Race 1 - Betway Handicap Tips

HYPERFOCUS hasn't been at his best in recent starts, and was soundly beaten on his reappearance at York. Yet, Haydock often brings out the best in Tim Easterby's seven-year-old. Three of Hyperfocus' five turf wins have come on soft ground here at Haydock, and his only victory of last season came over course-and-distance back in September.

David Allen's mount returns to his favourite track just one pound higher than his last winning mark. With very few in here likely to make the running, he and Air Raid could spur each other along from the front, and Hyperfocus is more than capable of winning off this mark.

Race 2 - Hilary Needler Trophy Tips

KYBER CRYSTAL went off as a 20/1 shot on debut, but ran a cracker to finish second behind Ebro River. The top two pulled a long way clear of the third that day, and Ebor River boosted that form with a Listed win at Sandown on Thursday evening.

She may not have an eye-popping pedigree, but Adrian Keatley's filly proved at Doncaster that she not only has ability but that she can handle softer ground.

Race 3 - Achilles Stakes Tips

El Astronaute will look to grab the lead straight away, and he'll have the stands-rail to help him along. One who could be well placed to strike from stall eight is ALJADY, and I'm going to side with Robert Cowell's six-year-old at an each-way price.

Aljady has won two of his three starts on soft ground. He thrashed Arecibo at Sandown back in August, before finishing second to Dakota Gold in a Listed contest at Nottingham. Aljady looked a little outpaced in the closing stages of the Palace House Stakes last time out, but he should be much more comfortable on softer going here, and he's a previous winner around this track.

Race 4 - Tote Handicap Tips

I'm tempted to take a punt on ALEXANDER JAMES, who has his first start for Mick Appleby here. Appleby will be the fourth British trainer this five-year-old has been sent to. Alexander James has also spent a lot of time in France, winning a Listed contest during his three-year-old campaign in 2019.

Alexander James was rated 98 when he last ran on British soil and, after a few disappointing runs, he returns off a workable mark of just 91. Appleby's recruit is often quick out of the stalls, and that will be vital here at Chester, especially after being drawn in stall two.

Race 5 - Pinnacle Stakes Tips

Cabaletta2:55pm Haydock Betway Pinnacle Stakes (Group 3) 1m4fGET 13/8 HERE

Ladbrokes is operated by LC International Limited (Suite 6, Atlantic Suites, Gibraltar) and licensed (ref 54743) and regulated by the British Gambling Commission for persons gambling in Great Britain. I can't see any reason to side against CABALETTA, who won a Listed race last season and has run well in several Group races since. Roger Varian's mare stayed on well to finish third on her reappearance at York. Stepping up to 12-furlongs will suit and I'd be surprised if she didn't improve greatly for that reappearance.

Race 6 - Two Year Old Trophy Tips

RYAN'S PARTY was beaten by Tipperary Sunset when they clashed at Hamilton. While the winner settled well and got the perfect trip on the rail, Ryan's Party overraced during the first half of the race and had to switch out wide to find a clear path to the post.

Kevin Ryan's youngster went down by a length that day, but if he has come on from that outing, I see no reason why he won't turn the tables on Tipperary Sunset, and he should have the rest of the field covered.

Race 8 - bet365 Handicap Tips

Sibaaq3:45pm Beverley bet365 Handicap (Class 3) 7½fGET 9/4 HERE

With nothing standing out behind him in the betting, this looks an excellent opportunity for SIBAAQ to make it three-from-three over course-and-distance. Mark Johnston's three-year-old won here back in August and again on his reappearance, where he comfortably saw off a field of fellow three-year-olds from the front.

Ben Curtis' mount ran well on soft ground at Goodwood last season and has a weight-for-age allowance on his side, as he clashed with many out-of-form older horses. He should take all the beating.
