The ITV Racing team will head to Musselburgh on Saturday, as the Scottish venue hosts their biggest meeting of the flat season. Along with four races from Musselburgh on Queen's Cup day, Haydock will chip in with three contests from their Challenger Series Finals card.

Here are my best betting tips for Saturday's ITV Races at Musselburgh and Haydock.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 30th March

1:50pm Musselburgh - Royal Mile Handicap Tips

Individualism is a half-brother to top-class former stablemates Subjectivist and Sir Ron Priestley, both of whom progressed quickly as three-year-olds. This opening mark of 78 could look lenient in a few months. However, I find Johnston horses can be extremely inconsistent and very hard to work out. Individualism could just as easily win by five lengths as he could finish last of the six. When a Johnston horse tops a market, I'm eager to take them on.

JOHNNY RINGO (7/1) is much more interesting. Lucinda Russell's gelding finished a strong second to Molten Rock on heavy ground at Redcar last October, as the top two pulled miles clear of the field. Johnny Ringo then rounded off his juvenile campaign with a seven furlongs victory at Newcastle, beating Roger Varian's Dashing Darcey by a neck.

Molten Rock went on to place a close third in a Listed contest and Dashing Darcey has won twice since, earning respective marks of 92 and 85. Johnny Ringo will make his handicap debut off 82 on Saturday, having already proven his stamina on bottomless ground.

Brentford Hope's new rating of 140 looks stiff enough. Milldam will love the ground, but 6/1 isn't the most appealing price for a horse running off a career-high mark. I don't fancy any of the other entrants. This is looking like a no-bet race for me.

2:25pm Musselburgh - Silver Arrow Handicap Tips

Having won this race off 83 and 90 the past two years, Gweedore will attempt to complete a hat-trick off his current rating of 100. Even with William Pyle claiming five pounds off Gweedore, I think the defending champion may have met his match in favourite POET MASTER (11/4).

Karl Burke's star bolted up on debut here at Musselburgh last season, before scoring by five lengths under a penalty at Haydock. Following a limp performance over a mile on good ground, Poet Master relished the return to seven furlongs on his final outing at Doncaster, where Sam James' mount kicked clear in the closing stages to beat a decent field by three lengths.

Like Gweedore, Poet Master will make his reappearance running off a mark of 100. Considering Burke's four-year-old clocked an RPR of 107 on just his fourth career start in September, I'm sure this triple-figure rating won't be enough to thwart him.

Two 700-day absences have restricted PICANHA (12/1) to just six career starts over hurdles. Richard Phillips' ten-year-old looked progressive as a novice back in 2021/22 and ran a blinder on his sole start so far this season, finishing fourth behind three race-fit, battle-hardened rivals at Newbury in February.

Picanha travelled and jumped well in that classy contest and was fully entitled to get tired late on. Finn Lambert retains his spot in the saddle and, with that outing at Newbury under his belt, I could see Picanha getting involved.

3:00pm Musselburgh - Scottish Sprint Cup Handicap Tips

Silkie Wilkie was wildly impressive when beating Vintage Clarets in this contest off 99 12 months ago and Karl Burke's star returns to Musselburgh running off a rating of just 97. Heavy ground might not be ideal for the defending champion, though, so I'm going to have a punt on the race-fit GLORIOUS ANGEL (13/2).

Glorious Angel will be having the 40th start of her career on Saturday, an incredible stat for a filly who made her debut just 23 months ago. Grant Tuer's star hasn't won on turf for a while, but did produce her best performances of last season in heavy ground five-furlong handicaps, losing out narrowly to Vintage Clarets at Catterick before another runner-up finish behind Aberama Gold at Doncaster.

Brandon Wilkie's mount was only beaten four lengths behind Montassib in the Cammidge Trophy last weekend, having made her reappearance over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton two weeks previous. Glorious Angel clearly takes her racing well and should be more effective over this shorter distance.

Another no-bet race for me at Haydock on Saturday. Nothing tickles my fancy.

3:35pm Musselburgh - Queen's Cup Tips

I mentioned earlier that I take on Johnston runners when they go off at short prices. I'm not averse to backing them at longer odds though, as that inconsistency can result in many being overpriced, especially in large-field handicaps.

CAPITAL THEORY (18/1) has spent most of the last two seasons running in good-quality handicaps. Charlie Johnston's five-year-old progressed nicely when stepped up to middle distances as a three-year-old and carried on that progress last term, winning well over 1m5f at Ayr in September.

Whether first time out is the best time to catch Capital Theory, I'm not so sure. Yet, on what we've seen over the past two seasons, this trip should be ideal and Franny Norton's mount looks well-handicapped off this mark of 86.

Also, if Chillingham was to drift out to around 6/1 or 7/1, then I'd have a bet on the current favourite. Ed Bethell is a trainer going places and this five-year-old remains highly-progressive over testing distances. He would be a worthy winner of this competitive race.
