ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 26th November

Race 1 - Sir Peter O'Sullevan Memorial Handicap Chase Tips

Dublin Four remains well-handicapped and 2020 winner, Cap Du Nord is dropping down to an appealing mark. Given his record around this track and his run at Wetherby last time out, I'm going to back ZANZA at a tasty price.

Philip Hobbs' charge has won four times over hurdles, with two of those wins coming here at Newbury. Zanza's only chase victory to date came at this meeting in 2020, when Richard Johnson rode him to an impressive victory in the Jim Joel Memorial Trophy off a mark of 138.

Zanza hasn't won since and was even dropped back to hurdles during a desperate campaign last season. On his return to chasing at Wetherby last time out, Tom O'Brien's mount made rapid progress from the rear to chase down Karl Philippe and finish a good second. Zanza will run off a mark of 134 on Saturday and this step back up in trip will suit.

Race 2 - Novices' Limited Handicap Chase Tips

Gavin Cromwell has spied an opportunity for Shantou Lucky to try and claim his second win over fences. This is, however, no penalty kick for the Irish raider. Malinello is a danger on his return. Son Of The Somme ran reasonably well on his first chase start and Big Difference is an experienced chaser who's won over further than three miles.

I quite like LORD ROCO, who finished second on his chase debut at Ayr earlier this month. Danny McMenamin's mount was in with a chance approaching the last, but a peck on landing allowed the favourite to open up a gap and Lord Roco was hampered by the winner as he attempted to battle back in the final 100 yards.

James Ewart's charge boasts valuable course experience, having won his maiden hurdle here at Newcastle last January. If Lord Roco has improved for that first run over fences, he could go really close.

Race 3 - Coral Racing Club Handicap Hurdle Tips

WALKING ON AIR has been handled with kid gloves by Nicky Henderson. A runner-up behind the ill-fated and talented Shallwehaveonemore on his sole bumper start, Walking On Air made an excellent impression when winning on his first hurdles start here at Newbury last January.

Inexperience then cost Henderson's star dearly on his final outing in the Grade One at Aintree, where Walking On Air ran very green and was pulled up well before the end. In his pre-season stable tour, Henderson claimed that Walking On Air could progress into a Stayers' Hurdle contender. If that Grade One is the aim, he should have no trouble winning this handicap off a mark of 132.

Walking On Air is a non-runner, as is West Balboa. I don't really like any of the other runners, so this will be a no-bet race for me.

Race 5 - Gerry Feilden Tips

First Street makes his reappearance in this handicap and Nicky Henderson's five-year-old will be giving over a stone to his closest rival in the weights.

After my initial selection Pikar was taken out, I've switched my allegiance to Gary Moore's four-year-old TEDDY BLUE. Moore's youngster was handed a mark of 134 after a runner-up finish in the Adonis Hurdle last season, but struggled in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham, where he finished near the rear of the field.

Teddy Blue returned to action with a decent run behind Boombawn in a Listed contest at Kempton, before getting off the mark over hurdles with a 20-length demolition of a far inferior field at Fontwell. Both Gary and, particularly, Jamie Moore travel to Newbury in excellent form and Teddy Blue now looks well-handicapped off this revised mark of 129.

Race 6 - Coral Gold Cup Tips

Corach Rambler tops the market for Saturday big handicap on Saturday. Lucinda Russell's charge will cross paths with several horses he beat in the Ultima, including Gericault Roque and Oscar Elite. Last year's runner, Fiddlerontheroof returns to Newbury. As does Remastered, who fell at the fourth-last when still tanking along 12 months ago.

Race 7 - Rehearsal Handicap Chase Tips

If L'Homme Presse is a genuine contender for races like the King George VI Chase and the Cheltenham Gold Cup, then he can little afford a defeat in handicap company. Venetia Williams' two-time Grade One winner will have to run up to his mark of 164 to carry 12-00 to victory. Should the favourite underperform even slightly, he faces an uphill battle.

I'll have a risky punt on WINDSOR AVENUE, who's been pulled up on four of his last five starts. When he did manage to complete a race, Brian Ellison's ten-year-old won the Listed Handicap Chase at Doncaster in January and Windsor Avenue will run off the same mark of 144 on Saturday. If Nathan Moscrop can get his mount into a nice early rhythm, then he can certainly challenge for the places.

Race 8 - Jim Joel Memorial Trophy Tips

With the greatest of respect to the other six runners - some of whom would definitely be of interest on softer ground - this race revolves around AMARILLO SKY.

Joe Tizzard's six-year-old bolted up in a handicap here at Newbury last season and kicked off this campaign with an impressive victory at Cheltenham's November Meeting. Brendan Powell's mount will be running off a four-pound higher mark on Saturday and has 11-13 to shoulder, but I doubt whether either will be enough to stop Amarillo Sky from building on that Cheltenham success.
