ITV Racing Tips on January 11th - Saturday's tips for Ffos Las and Chelmsford

There's a good chance, for the second Saturday in a row, that we might not have any National Hunt racing on ITV. The Premier Meetings at Kempton, Wetherby and Warwick have all been abandoned. Fairyhouse is currently unraceable and the makeshift fixture at Ffos Las faces an inspection early on Saturday morning.

As I've told the Racing Insider followers on X, I don't follow the all-weather racing during the winter, so I'm loathed to delve into those low-quality cards to find tips for the sake of it. Here are a few horses I do fancy in Saturday's ITV Races.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 11th January


1:15pm Ffos Las - Towton Novices' Chase Tips


Temperatures at Ffos Las look set to stay above freezing, so Saturday's meeting could survive. Rain has been forecast during the morning, though, meaning the going will likely turn extremely testing.

Handstands was much the best in the Esher Novices' Chase at Sandown. The market leader will have to shoulder a five-pound penalty for that success, and CHERIE D'AM (5/2) should be better suited by this shorter distance.

Dan Skelton's mare rounded off an encouraging novice hurdling campaign with a third-place finish in the Grade One Sefton Novices' Hurdle at Aintree. Having finished a close third behind Johnnywho on her chasing debut, Cherie d'Am ran out an impressive seven-length winner of the Listed Lady Godiva Mares' Novices' Chase at Warwick on her most recent start.

Harry Skelton made all at a fast pace. Despite a sprawling jump at the second-last, the leader sailed over the final flight and put seven lengths between herself and the chasing Telepathique on the run to the line. I was mightly impressed with that performance and Cherie d'Am should relish the stiff test of jumping that the track at Ffos Las presents.

2:40pm Chelmsford - bet365 Handicap Tips


The only runner that I'm keen to back on the all-weather on Saturday is one of the old boys in this field, REPERTOIRE (20/1). David Simcock's nine-year-old picked up well from off the pace to finish third on his reappearance at Southwell, crossing the line three lengths adrift of the winner.

Repertoire tends to do his best work early in the season. Connor Planas' mount won on his reappearance in 2021 and '22, and claimed his last victory on his second start of 2023. Simcock has had three winners from four runners so far this weekend and 
Repertoire has dropped to an appealing mark. If Planas can navigate a potentially tricky draw out in stall 16, they could catch a place.

2:58pm Ffos Las - Handicap Hurdle Tips


There should be no shortage of pace in this three-mile contest. The unbeaten Rosscahill has claimed both of his victories under rules from the front. Mahland made all to score over this course and distance in April and the old-stager West To The Bridge is never usually too far off the leaders.

One Big Bang should be well-suited by this set up. As should UP FOR PAROL (12/1), who finished a clear second behind the ultra-impressive Henri The Second on his sole start of the season at Sandown.

Jamie Snowden's nine-year-old was having just his second start over three miles that day and saw out the trip well, finishing a good 11 lengths clear of third-placed Super Survivor, who won nicely next time out. Up For Parol goes on soft ground and is a former course winner here at Ffos Las. If ridden patiently by Gavin Sheehan, he could be well-placed to strike in the closing stages.
