The popular November Meeting begins at Cheltenham racecourse on Friday afternoon. The Shloer Chase has been moved from Greatwood day to headline the opening card. Sadly, unseasonably good ground has resulted in smaller than average fields for Friday's four ITV races.

Here are my best betting tips for Cheltenham on day one of the November Meeting.

ITV Racing Tips - Friday 15th November

1:45pm Cheltenham - Novices' Chase Tips

I managed to get on BUDDY ONE (5/1) at 10/1 earlier in the week, knowing he would run and that a small field would be confirmed. Just the four will contest Friday's opener and I cannot work out why Paul Gilligan's raider is still the 5/1 outsider of the quartet.

Buddy One was by far the best of these over hurdles. Gilligan's seven-year-old won a handicap hurdle during this meeting 12 months ago, before going on to finish fourth in the Stayers' Hurdle.

Jack Gilligan's mount jumped well when making a winning chase debut at Galway in October. Buddy One then finished third of three on his prep-run for this contest, but he was up against two second-season novices in Heart Wood and Corbetts Cross, both of whom could run in open Grade Ones this season.

Gilligan's raider won't carry a penalty, unlike Springwell Bay and Hyland, and Resplendent Grey ran deplorably on his only previous trip to Cheltenham. Unless I'm missing something, 5/1 about Buddy One is a gift.

2:55pm Cheltenham - Cross Country Handicap Chase Tips

Even with Rob James' claimer, Conflated will have to give around a stone-and-a-half to the field on Friday - a big ask on his first start around this unique course.

Most of the other runners will be running from outside of the handicap. FAMEAFTERTHEGLORY (6/1) is effectively 25 pounds worse off, given he's only rated 115 over fences. However, Gavin Cromwell's raider was 11 pounds outside of the handicap when he finished third behind Latenightpass around this course during last year's December Meeting, staying on beyond Minella Indo in the closing stages.

Cromwell's eight-year-old ran a blinder behind stablemate Stumptown around the banks course at Punchestown when last seen back in May. Fameaftertheglory's record when fresh is decent and experience around this meandering circuit can prove vital.

3:30pm Cheltenham - Hyde Novices' Hurdle Tips

Potters Charm and Valgrand at the stand-outs, but neither can be backed at an appealing price. Gale Mahler could be better over this longer distance, but she's got 17 lengths to find on Valgrand from the Sharp Novices' Hurdle.

I won't be backing anything in this weak Grade Two. There is, however, one that I like in Friday's card-closer, which won't be shown on ITV.

4:00pm Cheltenham - Novices' Handicap Hurdle Tips

WRECKLESS ERIC (6/1) showed plenty of promise in juvenile hurdles for Ben Pauling last term. Following a solid runner-up effort on debut, Wreckless Eric scored nicely at Wetherby before making a winning handicap debut against his elders at Huntingdon in April.

On his first start for the O'Neill's, Kielan Woods' mount was backed into 9/4 favouritism and was just taking aim at the leader - who held on to win - at the second-last, only to stumble upon landing and tumble to the ground. Wreckless Eric was up quickly after that spill and a mere two-pound rise seemed lenient, considering he looked like he was going to win that race with plenty left up his sleeve.
