ITV Racing Tips - Friday 4th December

Race 1 - Novices' Limited Handicap Chase Tips

Funambule Sivola ran up to a stunning RPR of 136 off an official rating of 112 nine days ago. Venetia Williams' charge should be able to deal with a seven-pound penalty based on that display, but the ground is going to be much different at Sandown on Saturday, and his previous start over two-and-a-half miles ended in a 91-length defeat.

The one I really fancy is ALNADAM for the Skelton's. On his final start over hurdles, Harry Skelton's mount won nicely over this trip at Hereford, and the runner-up Demachine has come out and won twice over fences last season. Alnadam then hit the front after the last on his return at Carlisle, but got a little tired late on and hung out to his right, opening the door for Rath An Iuir to steal a one-length win.

The form of that race has been boosted too, as Rath An Iuir bolted up by ten lengths earlier this week. Alnadam should be well suited by this track, and boasts some useful form on soft ground. He ran up to an RPR of 139 the last day, so still seems very well treated off his official mark of 129.

Race 2 - Novices' Chase Tips

Following an excellent win on his chasing debut over three miles at Cheltenham, Colin Tizzard has decided to test THE BIG BREAKAWAY'S speed. Robbie Power's mount seemed to get better the further he went at Cheltenham, so it will be interesting to see what he can produce under a penalty over this much shorter trip on Friday.

If The Big Breakway gets around, he'll win. It should be a fascinating race to watch, but won't be a betting race for many. It might be a good time to back The Big Breakaway for the Kauto Star at the Kempton Christmas Festival, for which he's currently the 5/2 favourite.

Race 3 - Winter Novices' Hurdle Tips

Five talented novice hurdlers clash in Friday's Grade Two feature, with the likes of Paul Nicholls, Alan King and Evan Williams represented.

Race 4 - Handicap Chase Tips

Severano ran well to win on debut, but I think the favourite may not be able to give eleven pounds to MOLINEAUX, who drops down in class after placing third in Listed company at Ascot on his reappearance.

Colin Tizzard will have been surprised to see the handicapper drop his charge down to 128 following that run. Molineaux has won off a higher mark than this over fences, he's run well around this course a couple of times is more than capable of winning on soft ground.

Race 5 - Pertemps Network Qualifier Tips

I'm keen to take a chance on ESPION, who was beaten by useful sorts like Edwardstone and Fiddlerontheroof as a novice, before winning by eleven lengths on heavy ground at Uttoxeter on his final start of last season.

Philip Hobbs' charge was backed into favouritism on his reappearance, but seemed to lose his confident after a blunder at the half-way stage. Espion produced a much better performance here at Sandown the last day, going down to Gortroe Joe and First Lord De Cuet when giving both plenty of weight. Stepping up to three miles should suit, and he should be very competitive with just 11-1 on his back.

Race 6 - Close Brothers Handicap Chase Tips

PETITE POWER went down by a neck to Belle Empress in this race 12 months ago. Fergal O'Brien's eleven-year-old will run off the exact same rating as last year and Liam Harrison's claimer leaves him carrying 11-5, just like he did 12 months ago.

On both his starts so far this term, Petit Power has been held up out the back behind two winners who made all to score in impressive fashion. Petit Power caught the eye when satying on for fourth at Cheltenham last month, and that run should set him up perfectly to try and avenge last year's defeat.

Race 7 - Mares' Handicap Hurdle Tips

A tricky Mares' Handicap to round off our ITV Racing tips, and I'm tempted to take a punt on handicap debutante WHITEHOTCHILLIFILI.

Harry Fry's mare won twice as a novice over two-miles last season, with both wins coming on heavy ground around right-handed tracks. Whitehotchillifili then finished a respectable sixth in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, and kicked off this campaign with a 12-length defeat behind Mrs Hyde and Verdana Blue up at Wetherby.

Richard Johnson's mount now makes her first start in a handicap off a mark of 130. That doesn't seem too harsh, and I'm confident she'll have enough class to cope with top-weight.
