ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 13th March

Race 1 - Novices' Handicap Hurdle Final Tips

With the betting as congested as it is, an each-way play is the only one that makes sense, and the one who appeals most to me is OCEAN DRIFTER. Oliver Sherwood's charge was beaten into second by the classy Third Time Lucki on his hurdles debut, and has followed that up with two wins since.

Ocean Drifter still looked green when winning at Fontwell. The favourite idled when he hit the front under a penalty at Southwell the last day, but picked up again when challenged and ran out a comfortable winner. There's more improvement to come from him, and 12/1 looks a lovely price.

Race 2 - Lady Wulfruna Stakes Tips

Highland Dress is massively respected, but I'm going to take a chance on MUMS TIPPLE, who performed much better than his latest results suggests.

Richard Hannon's charge went into the 2019 Middle Park Stakes as a 3/1 shot. Things went pear-shaped thereafter and, after a torid year in 2020, Mums Tipple made his all-weather debut at Lingfield in February.

Ryan Moore's mount travelled well on the inside rail, but simply couldn't find an out as the finishers set sail for home outside him. Mums Tipple was still full of running as he powered over the line, and this step up in trip should suit.

Race 3 - Imperial Cup Tips

Natural History leads the way in the betting for this year's Imperial Cup, Langer Dan follows close behind, while the likes of Leoncavallo and Highway One O Two have come in for support in recent days.

Race 4 - Lincoln Trial Tips

I quite fancy the chances of TADLEEL, who comes into this on the back of two hard-fought victories over seven furlongs, and a solid runner-up effort over a mile. Laura Pearson takes a valuable five-pounds off Tadleel's back, and he's in the sort of form that could see him challenge for this £18k pot.

Race 5 - Mares' Listed Flat Race Tips

Rainyday Women looks a fine mare for Paul Nicholls to go jumping with next season, and she could take all the beating. However, at the prices, the one I like is CODE NAME LISE.

Lucy Wadham's five-year-old ran a fine race behind a short-priced favourite trained by Nicholls on debut, where she had to recover having stumbled rounding the final bend. Code Name Lise then went one better as Ascot, staying on gamely to fend off a fancied runner of Hughie Morrisons.

Bryony Frost takes the ride here, and there's no question Code Name Lise has been overlooked in the betting.

Race 6 - Betway Handicap Tips

BRIAN THE SNAIL has suddenly become one of the most consistent performers on the all-weather. Richard Fahey's charge has run seven times since October, winning three times and clocking RPRs in excess of 100 on every occasion.

Tony Hamilton's mount finished two lengths ahead of Streamline at Lingfield earlier in the season, and gets seven pounds from favourite Summerghand. He should run well again.

Race 7 - Listed Novices' Handicap Chase Tips

No Getaway and Admiral Barratry warrant great respect, especially the latter of his current mark. I'd still rather side with top-weight STRATAGEM, and I'm hopeful his proven class will help him get over the line.

Paul Nicholls' five-year-old has taken to chasing really well, baring that error at the first when Harry Cobden was unseated at Plumpton. Strategem was narrowly beaten by the classy Phoenix Way on his chasing debut, before handing Ballymoy a sound beating when they met at Doncaster last time out.

I think the course at Sandown will really suit Stratagem, and all of his runs this season have come on good or good-to-soft. He has to give weight to the field, but I still think Stratagem is the one to beat.
