ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 15th January

Race 1 - Courage Cup Handicap Chase Tips

Last year's winner Sky Pirate is respected, but he'll have a tough time giving stacks of weight to two hat-trick seeking rivals seven-year-olds. Like Not Available, BRAVE SEASCA has notched up two excellent wins this winter, bolting up by ten lengths here at Warwick in December before following up in Class 3 company at Ascot eight days later.

Venetia Williams' rising star will run off a career-high official mark of 137, but he ran up to an RPR of 143 at Ascot, despite being eased down well before the line. Brave Seasca has course form in the book, goes ion softer ground and remains well-treated. He looks to be the one to side with.

Race 2 - Coral Handicap Chase Tips

KAP AUTEUIL has won four of his last five starts over fences, with the only defeat coming on good ground over two miles on his first start around Cheltenham. Toby Lawes' rising star got back to winning ways at Fontwell last time out, staying on gamely under top-weight to claim a fairly cosy victory. He should handle the ground conditions well and has won on his only previous chase start going right-handed at Market Rasen.

Race 3 - Hampton Novices' Chase Tips

As I don't fancy backing Threeunderthrufive at an odds-on price, I'll take the favourite on with MINT CONDITION, who was only beaten a neck in last year's renewal of the Leamington Novices' Hurdle here at Warwick.

Jennie Candlish's eight-year-old has done nothing wrong on his two chase starts thus far, losing out by just a neck to the vastly more experienced Kiltealy Briggs at Haydock, before beating Ashtown Lad to open his account over fences just after Christmas. Mint Condition will get five pounds from the market leader and has proven himself on much softer ground than this.

Race 4 - Silviniaco Conti Chase

A thoroughly disappointing turn-out for what's supposed to be a premier Grade Two contest. MISTER FISHER has failed to finish three of his last four outings and was barely mentioned until he was pulled up on his reappearance in the King George. He is, however, a horse of genuine Grade One ability on a going day. If he wakes up on the right side of his box on Saturday morning, then he should eat this lot up for breakfast.

Race 5 - Leamington Novices' Hurdle Tips

PARTY BUSINESS was sent off as a 22/1 shot at Ascot in December, but travelled all over horses trained by Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson before running out a three-length winner.

Ian Williams' six-year-old was in the process of running a lovely race in the Challow Hurdle, before taking a crashing fall at the second-last flight. The fact that he's out again so quickly suggests there were no ill-effects following that untimely tumble and Party Business' form is far better than anyone elses. 3/1 looks like a cracking price.

Race 6 - Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle Tips

Marie's Rock is a horse I've always liked and I can understand why punters have backed Nicky Henderson's mare into favouritism. That being said, there is value to be found behind the favourite and the one who stands out for me at an each-way price is Ben Case's novice, COBBLERS DREAM.

Case's recruit looked a potentially high-class operator when powering to victory on his stable debut at Warwick in September. Cobblers Dream was then off the bit really early in a Listed contest here at Kempton the following month, but was still only beaten seven lengths behind Balko Saint, despite clearly not fancying it that day.

Jack Quinlann's mount was then beaten into second by Thunder Rock, who's won again since, when carrying a penalty in another novice contest at Wetherby. Case's six-year-old was last seen making a winning handicap debut at Doncaster in December, where he saw off the capable Leoncavello with a little left up his sleeve. The handicapper has only upped Cobblers Dream six pounds for that win and I fancy there's plenty more progression left in his locker.

Race 8 - Safer Gambling Handicap Chase Tips

I fancied Caribean Boy off 145 in the Silver Cup last time out, and was bitterly disappointed to see Nicky Henderson's grey crash out at the first flight. James Bowen's mount remains on the same mark and, if he were to register his usual RPR in the 150s, he could be hard to beat.

Then again, the handicapper has given KITTY'S LIGHT a massive chance to pick up his first win of the season. Christian Williams' six-year-old was narrowly beaten off this mark by Chirico Vallis on his reappearance at Chepstow and ran well when fourth under 12-00 here at Kempton over Christmas.

Despite some excellent efforts this season, including a runner-up finish in the Grade Two Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby, Kitty's Light has been dropped back to a mark of 143. Jack Tudor's mount improved with each of his starts during a busy campaign last season and I'm hoping he will mount a winning challenge on Saturday.

Race 9 - Pertemps Qualifier Tips

Sporting John, The Jam Man, Third Wind and Sire Du Berlais wouldn't want their handicap marks increasing if they were to run in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival. Luckily, they will qualify for that race with anything but a last-place finish in this seven runner event, so I expect all four will be ridden fairly quietly.

Riggs would probably need to win to get into the Final, so a big performance from him is needed. I, however, would rather side with ALAPHILIPPE for Fergal O'Brien, who won this qualifier last year with Imperial Alcazar.

Alaphilippe enjoyed an excellent novice campaign last season, hacking up on heavy ground to win the Grade Two Prestige at Haydock before finishing fifth in the Albert Bartlett. Paddy Brennan's mount holds an entry for the Stayers' Hurdle, so connections clearly think he's better than handicap level. He should be extremely competitive on his first start of the season.
