A fairly low-key weekend of racing is headlined by the John Of Gaunt Stakes. This Group Three was first held at Haydock in 1986 and a talented field of runners looks set to line up in Saturday's main event.

After Aldaary and Angel Bleu came our, Aussie raider The Astrologist has risen to the head of the market and Leon Corsten star will be ridden by Ryan Moore. Karl Burke steps El Caballo up in distance, following a poor performance on his reappearance in the Cammidge Trophy.

Jumby drops back down in grade after a run in the Lockinge Stakes. As will The Wizard Of Eye, who was only beaten seven lengths behind Modern Games in that lucrative Grade One.

Tim Easterby's Boardman jumps up into pattern company following an impressive handicap victory at Chester.Charlie Fellowes' Gorak also features in the market.

With no penalty to carry for his Group Two success last season, I'd be disappointed if JUMBY didn't get the job done on Saturday.

Eve Johnson Houghton's star clocked an impressive RPR of 116 when winning the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury last term. Jumby missed the break badly on his reappearance at Newmarket in April, and ran keen for much of the race when failing to get home in the Lockinge Stakes last time out.

Seven furlongs on fast ground is ideal for Charlie Bishop's mount. Jumby could have a job on his hands if he's slowly away from stall one, but if he gets off to a clean break, then Bishop should be perfectly positioned to mount a winning challenge from a king inside berth.
