Sandown card on Saturday is headlined by the Scilly Isles Novices' Chase. This two-and-a-half-mile Grade One has been won by some fantastic horses down the years, with greats like Bristol De Mai, Defi Du Seuil and Best Mate scoring in the last couple of decades.

We've taken a look through the betting for Saturday's renewal of the Scilly Isles, and picked out our best betting tips.

Hitman tops the market, having run up behind Allmankind in the Henry VIII here at Sandown. Paul Nicholls' charge didn't jump the railway fences that well, as Allmankind set a furious pace. Although he was much neater at the final two flights, he never really looked like catching the winner.

Shan Blue comes into this looking for his second Grade One win in a row, having scored in the Kauto Star over Christmas. Dan Skelton feels that his seven-year-old will be better over two-and-a-half miles than three. To me, Shan Blue looks an out-and-out stayer.

The time of his Kauto Star was almost three seconds quicker than the King George, but Frodon slowed that race down markedly in the middle section, and Bryony Frost's mount was a second-and-a-half quicker than Shan Blue from the third last to the line.

On Racing Post Ratings, Messire Des Obeaux's win in the Dipper run at Wincanton is the best piece of form on offer. However, odds-on favourite Protektorat really underperformed that day and Lieutenant Rocco set a gallop he was never going to sustain.

Alan King's nine-year-old pulled clear comfortably down the home straight and ran out a deserved winner. Yet, Capeland clocked an almost identical from the third-last to the line, despite carrying 11-pounds more on his back.

Harry Skelton will want to make this a strong test of stamina on Shan Blue, so he will likely set some quick fractions at the head of the field. With his stamina for this trip completely unproven, I could see Hitman's jumping letting him down again.

Given his form is open to questioning, I don't think Messire Des Obeaux offers that much value at 7/2. I don't like backing horses on the back of a heavy fall, so Allart wouldn't be amongst my bets. Sporting John has plenty to prove and Paint The Dream is a handicapper at best.

Shan Blue does hold appeal, but I think he could be vulnerable to a fast closer, and the one who could come from off the pace late on and snatch a win is DAME DE COMPAGNIE.

At Cheltenham last season, Nicky Henderson's mare comfortably beat future Martin Pipe winner, Indefatigable in a handicap over two-and-a-half miles. Dame De Compagnie then repeated that feat in the Coral Cup, swooping past several classy Irish rivals on the uphill run to the line, to win going away in the end.

On her chasing debut, Nico De Boinville mount made a bad error at the fourth fence in a match race with Cornerstone Lad. Dame De Compagnie quickly recovered her composure, and some good jumps down the home-straight saw Henderson's mare run out an easy winner.

As a mare, she'll get seven pounds from the geldings, and even five-year-old Hitman will have to conceded four pounds to Dame De Compagnie. She beat the boys with plenty in-hand in the Coral Cup, and she has the scope and talent to make up into a lovely novice chaser.

Nicky Henderson is the most successful trainer in this Grade One, and I think his mare, Dame De Compagnie is a fantastic each-way bet at 6/1.
