Saturday's card at Newbury might feature the Group Three Hackwood Stakes, but the big betting race on ITV Racing this weekend will be the Weatherbys Super Sprint.

This five-furlong juvenile sprint was invented in the early 1990s as a way to celebrate horses who were purchased for measly prices at auction. Since then, the Super Sprint has produced several top sprinters, with the names of Lyric Fantasy and Tiggy Wiggy shining on the roll of honour.

We've taken a look through the ante-post betting for Saturday's Super Sprint, listed some key trends and picked out our top two betting tips.

2021 Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes Runners

Happy Romance became the seventh horse in the last 12 years to carry a prive shorter than 5/1 to victory in the Super Sprint, so fancied horses usually perform well. Chipotle tops the ante-post betting for Saturday's renewal, having defied a tricky low draw to win the Windsor Castle Stakes in convincing fashion.

Eight of the last 15 winners of the Super Sprint were trained by either Richard Hannon Jnr, Richard Hannon Snr or Richard Fahey. On the seven occasions where a trainer named Richard hasn't come out on top, Fahey and the Hannons have had two runners-up a piece, so their records in this race are quite impressive.

Fahey will drop Vintage Clarets back to five furlongs, having watched his colt hold on gamely for third in the Coventry Stakes last time out. Gubbass claimed an impressive victory on debut at Leicester back in April and Richard Hannon has clearly been saving his colt for this lucrative contest.

Looking away from the market leaders, it's hard to find any realy value. Bellarena Lady was thrashed when she stepped up to Listed level. Guilded and Sienna Bonnie have won just once between them in eight starts, while the likes of Showtime Mahomes, El Maga and Adaay In Asia would need to take their form to a whole new level.

A wide draw has proven to be a massive advantage in recent years, so it might be worth waiting until after that has taken place on Thursday before placing your bets. That being said, if CHIPOTLE does land a kind draw, his price could shorten even further, so I'm going to splash my cash nice and early.

Eve Johnson Houghton's charge has lost just one of his four starts thus far, and that came on very soft ground in the Dragon Stakes at Sandown. Chipotle thrashed Vintage Clarets when they met on debut, before following up under a penalty at Ascot.

Chipotle then swept all his rivals aside with a tremendous late kick in the Windsor Castle Stakes. That victory was all the more impressive when you consider this son of Havana Gold was drawn in one, a stall many classy horses failed to overcome during the week.

With regular jockey Charlie Bishop unavailable, Johnson Houghton has booked the thoroughly in-form David Probert to take the ride, and the weather forecast will fill Chiptole's connection with plenty of optimism.

2021 Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes Tip 2

Delmona2021 Weatherby's Super Sprint Tip 2GET 12/1 HERE

One who does catch my eye at a decent each-way price is DELMONA, for Jane Elliott and Tom Dascombe. Elliott rode Delmona to victory on debut at Bath, where she looked very green but still had more than enough about her to see off Richard Hannon's second-string on Saturday, Symphony Perfect.

Dascombe then stepped his filly up to six furlongs for the Listed Empress Fillies Stakes at Newmarket. Like on debut, Delmona pulled hard and hung a little right as she moved into contention. Despite those antics, Martin Harley's mount looked ready to challenge with a furlong to travel, only to get relegated to fifth on the run to the line.

Dropping back to five furlongs looks a smart move, and I'm confident this talented filly will improve again for her second outing. Two of Dandy Man's progeny have triumphed in the Super Sprint, including last year's winner Happy Romance, and Delmona has proven she has the quality to contend at this sort of level.

Chiptole is a worthy favourite, and Eve Johnson Houghton's Windsor Castle winner is fancied to follow-up.

Another who will relish the drying ground is Delmona, and she looks a cracking each-way bet at 12/1.
