I'm going to take a chance on KEY COMMANDER, who'll be racing in ideal conditions for the first time this season. Eoin Doyle's seven-year-old was only beaten two lengths in the staying handicap chase on this card 12 months ago and the only wins of his career have come on soft or heavy ground. Aidan Kelly's mount runs off a hurdles mark some 13 pounds short of his chase rating and first-time blinkers could help spark a return to form.

EX S'ELANCE ran well on his first couple of starts for Victor Thompson, twice finishing third off a mark of 83. Thompson's eight-year-old has struggled to get competitive on soft and heavy ground the last twice, but could relish the return to nicer ground conditions and Alan Doyle's claimer reduces his burden to just 10-4.

PORTELET BAY ran a lovely race back down over five furlongs at Newcastle last time out, finishing a close second behind Blazing Hot and a placed ahead of Porfin. David Evan's four-year-old runs off the same mark again today and he's got enough course form to suggest he could be in with a chance.
