It was a mixed day for punters on day two at the Cheltenham Festival. Bob Olinger and Monkfish obliged in the opening two races, but Chacun Pour Soi was beaten into third by Put The Kettle On in the Champion Chase, and Kilcruit was defeated by Sir Gerhard in the Champion Bumper.

There were also two upsets in the handicaps, with 33/1 outsider Heaven Help Us winning the Coral Cup, and Sky Pirate edging out Entoucas to win the Grand Annual.

The biggest story of the day was Tiger Roll, who bounced back to form in stunning style in the Cross Country. The dual-Grand National hero won his fifth Cheltenham Festival race with a brilliant display under emotional rider, Keith Donoghue.

John Lees of Ladbrokes said, “It’s very much racing’s loss that Tiger Roll won’t be trying to land a third Grand National at Aintree this year after he routed his rivals to win at the Cheltenham Festival for the fifth time. Who knows? Maybe next year."

"For once Tiger Roll was on the bookmakers’ side in dismissing the hot favourite Easysland in the cross-country. With Chacun Pour Soi and Kilcruit beaten at odds-on as well we emerged from St Patrick’s Day narrowly in front, which was looking unlikely when Bob Olinger and Monkfish took the first two races.”
