The most prestigious race in National Hunt racing is the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which headlines the card on day four of the Cheltenham Festival.

The dust may only just have settled on the 2025 Cheltenham Festival, but here's an early look at the betting for the 2026 Gold Cup.

2026 Cheltenham Gold Cup Entries

A spring-heeled leap at the last saw Inothewayurthinkin down Galopin Des Champs and win the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2025. Gavin Cromwell's star is the early favourite to retain his Gold Cup crown in 2026. Two-time winner, Galopin Des Champs only sits third in the betting, with runaway Ryanair Chase winner Fact To File splitting the two rivals.

There's a big gap in the market until we reach multiple Grade One winner Fastorslow, who missed the 2025 Gold Cup through injury. Former Turners' Novices' Chase winner Grey Dawning will be aimed at the Gold Cup in 2026. As could Majborough, who will likely step up in distance following his defeat in the 2025 Arkle Challenge Trophy.

Lecky Watson claimed a shock victory in the 2025 Brown Advisory Novices' Chase and could be pointed at the Gold Cup next season. Ben Pauling could have that race in mind for Grade One winner The Jukebox Man, who missed the Brown Advisory through injury. Henry De Bromhead's Montys Star could return for a second crack at the Gold Cup in 2026.

Ballyburn features in the ante-post Gold Cup market, but seems more likely to revert back to hurdles following his disappointing run at Cheltenham this season. Other potential Gold Cup runners include 2024 runner-up Gerri Colombe, surprise Arkle winner Jango Baie, Brown Advisory runner-up Stellar Story, and Willie Mullins' multiple Grade One winner, Dancing City.
