2026 Stayers' Hurdle Entries
Bob Olinger got the better of Teahupoo to win the Stayers' Hurdle in 2025. Despite that defeat, Teahupoo remains the firm favourite to win this Championship race for a second time in 2026. Bob Olinger, who'll be an 11-year-old when he defends his crown next season, can be backed at 12/1.
Turners Novices' Hurdle runner-up, The Yellow Clay also sits prominently in the market for Gordon Elliott. Willie Mullins could drop Ballyburn back to hurdling following his defeat in the Brown Advisory. Mullins could also be represented by Jasmin De Vaux, who'll be going for a third Cheltenham Festival win in 2026, after scoring in the Champion Bumper and the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.
The New Lion and Lossiemouth feature in the early Stayers' Hurdle betting, but they'll likely be aimed at the Champion and Mares' Hurdle respectively. Turners' Novices' Hurdle third, Final Demand will likely move up to novice chasing in 2026. Jimmy Du Seuil, who won the Coral Cup on his only start of 2025, could make up into a three-mile hurdler.
France's top hurdler, Theleme could make his Cheltenham Festival debut in 2026, having missed the last two meetings through injury. Other potential runners include Stayers' Hurdle third The Wallpark, Albert Bartlett runner-up The Big Westerner, former Champion Hurdle second Irish Point, and Declan Queally's progressive five-year-old Rocky's Diamond.
