As Rachael Blackmore pulled A Plus Tard up turning for home, Harry Skelton sent the strong-travelling Protektorat to the front at Haydock and Dan Skelton's stay powered up the home straight to win the Betfair Chase by 11 lengths.

Protektorat finished third in last year's Gold Cup and bet365 quickly cut Skelton's star into 8/1 to win this season's renewal. A Plus Tard drifted out from 3s to 9/1 following a shockingly lacklustre return to action.

State Man

County Hurdle winner State Man ran out an impressive winner of the Morgiana Hurdle on his reappearance. Willie Mullins' charge kicked clear rounding the bend and comfortably held Sharjah at bay. Unibet immediately cut State Man into 6/1 third favourite for the 2023 Champion Hurdle.

Authorized Speed

Fifth in last year's Champion Bumper, Authorized Speed produced an explosive performance to win on his hurdles debut at Lingfield last Tuesday. Gary Moore's star was then entered bet365's betting for the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at an opening price of 33/1.

Monbeg Park

Sean Doyle's novice saw off dangerous rivals trained by Willie Mullins, Henry De Bromhead and Gordon Elliott to get off the mark at Punchestown this weekend. Monbeg Park entered the betting for the Albert Bartlett at 25/1, while also receiving quotes of 33/1 for the Ballymore.

Absolute Notions

Another novice hurdler to impress this weekend was Gordon Elliott's Absolute Notions, who won nicely over two-and-a-half-miles on his hurdles debut at Punchestown. Elliott's four-year-old is now a general 20/1 shot to win the Ballymore, with Unibet quoting 16/1 in their betting for the Albert Bartlett.

The Model Kingdom

Following the first defeat of her career in a Listed contest at Down Royal, Noel Meade's mare returned to winning ways with an impressive victory over the unbeaten Halibut at Punchestown this weekend. Betfair then cut The Model Kingdom into 10/1 for the Mares' Novices' Hurdle.

Harmonya Maker

At Fairyhouse last Tuesday, Harmonya Maker ran out a ready winner of the dangerous Law Ella on her hurdles debut. Gordon Elliott's five-year-old was then slashed in the betting for the 2023 Mares' Novices' Hurdle, with bet365 going 16/1 from 33s.

Vicki Vale

Dan Skelton's mare thrashed several more experienced rivals to win a maiden by 21 lengths at Hereford last week. Bet365 then entered Vicki Vale into their Mares' Novices' Hurdle betting at 16/1.

Queens Brook

Last year's Mares' Hurdle runner-up ran out an impressive six-length winner of a Listed race on her reappearance this weekend. Queens Brook was clipped into 8s from 14/1 to win this season's Mares' Hurdle by bet365.

One of the most impressive performances of the week came as Warwick on Wednesday, where Nicky Henderson's Jonbon thrashed Monmiral and West Cork on his chasing debut. Last year's Supreme runner-up is now the clear 2/1 favourite to win the 2023 Arkle Challenge Trophy.

Lac De Constance

Unbeaten in three starts over hurdles last season, including a Listed success at Exeter, Lac De Constance made a winning start to life over fences at Kempton on Monday. Dan Skelton's charge jumped beautifully as he beat hot-favourite Sammarive and Hudson De Grugy by 20-lengths, earning quotes of 20/1 in bet365's betting for the Arkle, and 25/1 for the Turners Novices' Chase.

After Journey With Me was withdrawn, Kilcruit was left with a straight-forward task on his chase debut at Punchestown on Saturday. Willie Mullins' charge beat two average rivals by an easy nine-lengths and was clipped into 16/1 for the Turners Novices' Chase.

Gerri Colombe

Another Gordon Elliott runner to impress at Fairyhouse last Tuesday was Gerri Colombe, who jumped nicely as he made a winning debut over fences. Bet365 cut Gerri Colombe into 12/1 for the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, while also cutting Elliott's charge into 14s for the National Hunt Chase and 16s for the Turners.

Willie Mullins mare opened her account over fences at the first attempt at Cork on Sunday, where she ran away with the Mares' Novices' Chase. Betfair then cut Dinoblue into 10/1 from 20s in their betting for the Mares' Chase on Gold Cup day at Cheltenham.

Willie Mullins' mare saw off two prime contenders for the 2023 Mares' Chase, Elimay and Scarlett And Dove to win a Listed contest at Thurles on Thursday. Dolcita then entered Unibet's betting for the Mares' Chase at an opening price of 14/1, and was cut further into 10/1 on Sunday.

Delta Work

Gordon Elliott's star returned to action with a hard-fought victory in the Risk Of Thunder Chase at Punchestown on Sunday. Delta Work upset Tiger Roll to win the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham last year and Elliott's charge is already 2/1 to defend that title in 2023.

Hitman cruised to an overdue victory in the Graduation Chase at Haydock on Betfair Chase day. At 25/1 shot before the race, Betfair cut Hitman into 14/1 in their betting for the 2023 Ryanair Chase.

Blue Lord

A Grade One-winning novice at Punchestown last spring, Blue Lord returned to action with a messy victory over Tornado Flyer in the Clonmel Oil Chase at Thurles last week. With stablemate Allaho now a doubt for the Ryanair, Willie Mullins' charge was cut into 16/1 for that race by Betfair.
