After the Coral-Eclipse and Durban July wowed fans on Saturday, flat racing fans look to France for their fix of Group One action on Sunday. The card at Saint-Cloud is headlined by the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, a lucrative 12-furlong contest that has been won by great horses like Corrida, Djebel, Dahlia, Montjeu and Treve.

We've taken a look through the field set to run in Sunday's Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and picked out our French racing best bets.

2022 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud Runners

2021 St Leger winner and the beaten favourite in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Hurricane Lane ran a pleasing race on his reappearance at Royal Ascot. Charlie Appleby warned that his star would need the run and so he did, finishing third behind Broome in the Hardwicke Stakes.

Sir Mark Prescott's Alpinista, who enjoyed an unbeaten campaign last year, sits second behind Hurricane Lane in the betting. Andre Fabre's Mare Australis returned to winning form in the Grand Prix de Chantilly last time out and the former Prix Ganay winner also sits prominently in the market.

High Definition is yet to win since his juvenile campaign, but Aidan O'Brien's four-year-old comes into this Group One on the back of three solid front-running efforts. Roger Varian's Third Realms and Martyn Meade's Lone Eagle also make the trip over to Saint-Cloud.

Mare Australis will be joined in the field by stablemate Baratti. Grand Prix de Chantilly runner-up, Bubble Gift will fly the flag for Mikel Delzangles, while Francois-Henry Graffard will be represented by Sweet Lady

2022 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud Tips

Despite clearly needing the run, I was disappointed with Hurricane Lane's effort at Royal Ascot. Charlie Appleby's star will certainly improve for that return outing and the favourite will love the soft ground at Chantilly.

Hurricane Lane is very hard to oppose. Yet, the favourite offers little value at 5/4 and, with three paid places available, I'd rather take an each-way punt on one at a longer price.

Lone Eagle has done all his winning from the front. High Definition has appreciated more aggressive riding tactics this season. Mare Australis, too, has relished the opportunity to front-run, so it's likely we'll get a fierce battle for the lead in the early stages.

If this race is run at an unsustainably fast pace, it would suit a fast closer like BUBBLE GIFT, who holds plenty of appeal at 20/1.

Mikel Delzangles' four-year-old flew home from the rear to snatch victory in the Prix Neil last season. Bubble Gift was then very slowly away in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, but finished with somewhat of a flourish to cross the line five lengths behind Torquator Tasso in eighth.

Cristian Demuro's mount shaped like he needed the run on his reappearance at Longchamp. Mare Australis then kicked clear off a steady pace to win the Grand Prix de Chantilly last time out, and Bubble Gift's late surge was only good enough for second.

Bubble Gift is a thorough stayer over this trip and is proven on all kinds of ground. The faster they go on Sunday, the better.

Hurricane Lane is most definitely the one to beat, but Bubble Gift is certainly not without an each way shout. He's too big at 20/1.
