The first Sunday in October means just one thing, Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe day. Europes most prestigious flat race was first staged at Paris-Longchamp in 1920, and has been won by true greats like Carrida, Mill Reef, Treve and Enable.

There may still be a few weeks to go before this year's Arc, but the betting is really starting to hot up. Let's take a look through the current Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe betting.

Snowfall and Adayar had topped the betting for the Arc since winning the Yorkshire Oaks and King George respectively. Both, however, have drifted in recent days. Snowfall suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Teona in the Prix Vermeille, and Adayar was forced to miss the Prix Neil with a minor set-back.

Now, it's Tarnawa who leads the way in the betting. Dermot Weld's mare won three Group Ones last autumn, and she heads to Longchamp on the back of an excellent second behind St Mark's Basilica in the Irish Champion Stakes.

Hurricane Lane ran out a convincing winner of the St Leger on his most recent run. Charlie Appleby's Classic winner was slashed for the Arc following that victory, and he sits just behind Snowfall at 5/1.

Japanese raider, Chrono Genesis will make the trip over to France for the Arc, where she'll be ridden by Oisin Murphy. Her countryman, Deep Bond claimed a shock victory over Broome and IResine in the Prix Foy, and he also features in the Arc betting.

John Gosden said the Arc was an option for runaway Juddmonte International winner Mishriff, but a tilt at the Champion Stakes seems more likely. St Mark's Basilica also features in the Arc betting, but he too will likely be kept over a mile-and-a-quarter.

Teona has earned her place in the Arc after defeating Snowfall in the Vermeille. Raabihah is the only French runner sitting below 33/1 in the current Longchamp betting. Other possible runners include Love, Mare Australis, Mohaafeth and Gold Trip.
