18+ only. Ts and Cs apply.
SKALLETI has won both of his starts so far this season, and was quite impressive on both occasions. Jerome Reynier's stable star swatted aside some decent rivals in the Prix Exbury on his reappearance, and was well on top as he claimed a one-length victory in the Prix d'Harcourt.
The form of that Group Two was boosted when runner-up, Mare Australis beat Gold Trip and Mogul in the Prix Ganay earlier this month. Gerald Mosse's mount is a natural over this trip and signs this season suggest he could be reaching the peak of his career.
The Revenant stole the headlines on Champions' Day last year, when he landed the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. This season, though, Francis-Henri Graffard's star hasn't been at his best, and it's hard to see why this step up in trip will spark a return to form.
Victor Ludorum currently sits on an appealing each-way price. He's sure to come on from that reappearance run, where he finished third in the Prix du Muguet. However, Andre Fabre's French Guineas winner looked a little one-paced on his two starts over this trip last season, and stall one can often be tricky for a hold-up horse.
With all of the home runners likely to be held up, either My Oberon or Tilsit could be asked to make the running. Of the two, My Oberon holds most appeal, but he's been defeated on all three occasions he's run on soft ground.
Jean-Claude Rouget will be represented by Wally, but I'd be surprised if he was up to Group One standard. Ecrivain has only won one of his last ten starts, and that win came in a conditions race on the all-weather at Deaville, so I can't see the market back-marker outrunning his odds.
With nothing standing out against the favourite, this should go the way of Skalleti, who's looked better than ever so far this term and finally seems ready to make the breakthrough at Group One level. 13/8 isn't a bad price.
