Jupiter Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Happy Good Guys
Christophe Soumillon takes the reins this evening on HAPPY GOOD GUYS who has been luckless via his last two outings when racing three-wide throughout on both occasions and draws much kinder here in gate four.
A runner-up in three of his last four attempts at Class 4 level, Happy Good Guys came back to his right grade in that December 9 attempt where despite not matching the winner, was brave in hanging on given the trip that was endured.
This five-year-old is a little one-paced, which is the knock but if allowed build into this a little earlier from a forward position, he gets his chance in a winnable race.
Venus Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Super Axiom
There are certainly no prizes for finding this super impressive debut winner at the short odds-on offer, but off that dominant performance and finding a rather modest Class 3, he should be able to progress further on December 23.
It looked no more than a track gallop on November 29 when going straight to the front under Chad Schofield, who did look after this three-year-old late in piece and still held a comfortable two-length margin on the line.
With a 6kg plummet in the weights off that performance and having already trialled strongly Happy Valley, Super Axiom will land straight on the speed from barrier four and should take plenty of catching.
Venus Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Wind N Grass
John Size and Alexis Badel combine in the penultimate from Happy Valley with this very consistent gelding who now with three runs under the belt this season, should be at close to his top and he is knocking down the door if the December 9 effort was any indication.
After drawing wide on that occasion, he was a little tardy away but motored home from the rear to place behind the very handy Harmony N Blessed, a galloper that is unbeaten from two outings and Wind N Grass was spotting 5kg to him.
Whilst this four-year-old isn't blessed with a heap of early dash, he is capable of settling closer from a better gate and off a good speed, is a strong chance if the breaks come.
Mercury Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 9 No. 9 Mega Heart
After winning two of his final three outings last season at Class 3 level, this galloper from the Michael Chang stable has stepped up to Class 2 grade where following a modest return effort, has been very competitive over his last three attempts.
He was hard to miss late when grabbing third on the line two starts back over the five furlongs here and stepping up to 1200m at his latest on the Sha Tin All Weather circuit, was again making big inroads from the back of the field.
The get back racing pattern of Mega Heart means he will always need a bit of luck to fall his way, but that is factored into this massive price that is available and he is capable of filling a top three/four slot if they overdo it up front.
