Yik Yam Handicap Tips (Race 2)
While there's a query with what was a big form turnaround February 3, this gelding was enormous at a huge price in a 1650m contest he arguably should've won.
Settlimg towards the rear as a result of a wide barrier, the five-year-old was badly inconvenienced approaching the first turn where he was shuffled back and lost a few lengths, but still managed to come from a long way off them, finishing strongly for fourth.
Our biggest lead for Superbella on February 24 is Hong Kong's leading rider Joao Moreira jumping off that winner King Dragon to pilot this Frankie Lor-trained galloper, and from barrier four, he draws for a much kinder run-in transit this time.
Wang Tak Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Following two even Sha Tin efforts to start his Hong Kong career, albeit well held on both occasions, he put in a much-improved performance when racing at Happy Valley on February 3.
Having his second run at six furlongs, the son of Pierro settled with a nice midfield trail early but was under pressure chasing a good speed, however, was still able to pick up some momentum along the rail in the run home but found trouble at a key stage.
When a passage briefly looked like opening, the early leader stopped at the 150m and fell straight into his lap, so no doubt Mister Arm should've finished a little closer and given the beaten margin was only two lengths, is one that has been missed in the early markets.
Sing Woo Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Prepared by leading trainer Caspar Fownes, who has notched up 24 winners at Happy Valley this season, Kurpany backed up an second-up effort with a very comfortable victory on January 6, strolling away late to record a three and a half-length margin on the line.
After bombing the start and still having the audacity to rattle home on January 27, the four-year-old should've been completing a winning hat-trick when he bounced back on February 10, in a very soft victory on the line.
While he will need to stretch his brilliance to 1200m this evening and faces a field with a little more depth, led by the tough on-pacer Scores Of Fun who is on the seven-day turnaround, Kurpany does draw well again and is still well weighted, only going up half a kilo for the same class.
Tsui Man Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Although he has been mostly competitive in stronger races this season, the big plus for this gelding is the drop back to Class 3 level here, with his last victory coming in this grade last September, a two-length win with 60.5kg, so the 58.5kg is more than manageable.
Prepared by trainer Francis Lui who has recorded 18 winners at Happy Valley this season, Alpha Hedge is another who'll be looking forward with a return to this circuit, a track he has a great record on (four wins and five placings from 14 attempts).
From barrier five where he should be able to lob midfield under Vincent Ho, the seven-year-old does map well and although it is quite a competitive affair to end the program, he's ticking a lot of boxes considering the double figure quote.
