Broom Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Aurora Pegasus
Hong Kong's leading rider Joao Moreira, and leading trainer Caspar Fownes team up in the third with this five-year-old, who although rises steeply in the weights, is much better placed dropping to Class 4 level this evening.
A galloper that recorded a big Class 3 victory in November 2019 prior to a lengthy lay off, Aurora Pegasus has still been very competitive in that grade this season, with a pair of thirds in February and March the highlight of this campaign.
With all of his form being over the 1200m at Happy Valley and camping around midfield under the 'Magic Man', he has to respected in what is the weakest assignment he's faced in a very long time.
Green Lane Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 4 No. 4 Savvy Kingman
Joao Moreira and Frankie Lor have combined for 17 winners this season at a strike rate of 22.7%, and they will be looking to bounce back here with this lightly raced four-year-old who was unlucky not to go back-to-back on June 9.
Savvy Kingman came to Happy Valley on March 3, where he was luckless after travelling three-wide throughout, but still kicked on and was a little flat following that prior to his May 19 attempt when bringing up a much-deserved win.
The tardy getaway ultimately proved the difference via that most recent attempt where he still chased hard into second and with a kinder map than his main threat in Tangmere, this gelding can go one better in a race with little depth.
Hawthorn Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 8 No. 9 Telecom Smart
Karis Teetan and Me Tsui combine in the sixth from Happy Valley with Telecom Smart, a gelding that was firmly knocking on the door for his Hong Kong win which finally arrived on June 9 where he duly bolted in.
Showing some potential in Australia when racing as 'Truffle House', Telecom Smart has been his own worst enemy at the barriers which was again evident when stepping to Class 3 level last start and he was still only a stride off grabbing third
With what is clearly a quirky galloper, the engagement of Karis Teetan could well be a significant booking given he was starting to build a good affinity with the son of Smart Missile in the lead-up to that June 23 performance.
Holly Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 9 No. 8 Splendid Living
A dual winner in England prior to being sold to Hong Kong is this lightly raced four-year-old who has shown glimpses of promise at the trials, but he did look rusty initially, improving gradually with each hit out ahead of his June 6 return.
Splendid Living was still racing greenly in that 1400m Sha Tin event although he didn't turn it up and stepping up to the 1600m on the All-Weather circuit last start, has continued to whack away late for third in testing conditions.
While he was still well held via that June 29 attempt, a return to the grass does look an advantage and in what certainly isn't the strongest of Class 3's, he could well have enough improvement to be in the finish, now third-up off a long break.
