Jervois Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Amazing Rocky
Zac Purton takes the ride on this Benno Yung-trained gelding on June 2, with this trainer/jockey combination having recorded seven winners this season at a good strike rate of 21.2%.
Happy Rocky has been building towards a win and making his Happy Valley debut on April 24, the son of Bel Esprit stuck on well for second behind Cantstopthefeeling, who has some reasonable form around him.
They did manage to hold a safe margin on the rest of the field and given he raced a little greenly in the run home via his first attempt on this circuit, having the rail to follow from barrier one is a decent advantage here.
Morrison Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 2 Island Shine
This five-year-old was a Class 3 winner last April, but just hasn't been able to progress further this season despite being mostly competitive and is much better placed coming down in grade to Class 4 company.
Dropping to this level via his latest attempt on May 19, Island Shine was forced back due to wide barrier and although never in winning calculations, was the pick of those coming out of the pack late.
While he loses the claim this evening, this gelding draws much kinder in gate three and with a senior hoop in Karis Teetan aboard, he looks to have found a very winnable race via the third from Happy Valley.
Rumsey Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 4 No. 7 Ernest Feeling
Although not as seasoned as the majority of the rivals he faces in this 1650m contest, a lot of the opposition are well exposed whereas this three-year-old does have plenty of upside.
Ernest Feeling returns to Happy Valley for his fifth Hong Kong outing, having raced on this circuit for his debut performance where he rattled home down the outside to grab third over the 1200m on February 17.
With two seven-furlong efforts now under his belt and having covered ground in both of those attempts, the son of Epaulette now steps to the 1650m and ideally with cover form barrier five, can show his turn-of-foot late.
Hillier Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 9 No. 8 Exceptional Nice
This is a superbly bred galloper being a half-brother to Anacheeva, Headturner and O'Marilyn, all Group One winners in Australia and New Zealand, and he's showed his fair of ability throughout this Hong Kong season.
While he hasn't been able to breakthrough for a win since being sold from Australia, Exceptional Nice is racing very consistently, recording three placings at Class 3 level, including a runner-up finish via his latest attempt on April 28.
Predicted to take up the running, Alexis Badel should be able to dictate proceedings from the front and with a favourable run on the speed, he should able to give this a shake at an each-way price.
