Ma Tau Kok Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Harmony Fire
This three-year-old has been super competitive in all four Hong Kong efforts to date with the highlight being a victory on February 2 and with a little more luck, he could've easily have saluted in any one of the other three efforts.
The son of Brazen Beau has been drawing poorly which has forced him to do it the hard way via his last two appearances, sustaining wide runs on a tough circuit to do so and this evening finally draws a gate (barrier one),
He is sneaking up in the weights so the engagement of 3kg claiming apprentice Jerry Chau is a very important one here, as it sees Harmony Fire come down to 57kg, a lighter impost to his last few attempts.
Ma Tau Wai Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Exuberant
Having combined for 29 winners at an excellent trike rate of 24.4% over the last 12 months, the Zac Purton and Danny Shum partnership has been a successful one with the champion hoop jumping aboard this gelding for the first time.
Following a March 10 debut over this track/trip when still looking quite raw, Exuberant has improved with racing experience, finishing off strongly for third at start two and it's well worth forgiving the last performance.
Racing four-wide and working throughout that April 14 event when forced for home a long way out, he was entitled to be beaten further than the eventual three length losing margin and here, draws for a lovely run in transit from barrier one.
To Kwa Wan Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 6 No. 11 Super Hong Kong
Tipped out after an uncompetitive debut over 1200m last July, a trip he found much too sharp, this gelding had genuine excuses in the September 27 flop that followed (substantial mucus detected in trachea post-race).
Given plenty of time following that second outing, Super Hong Kong has been building well this campaign, finishing off fairly for a three length defeat first-up and should've finished closer when third via his latest effort on April 8.
Shuffled back and badly held up rounding the turn for home, he's stuck to the task well despite encountering numerous traffic problems and ideally looking to hold up earlier from the inside this evening, can give this a shake with a cleaner passage.
Hok Yuen Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 9 No. 3 Shining Gem
A winner over this track/trip and grade last July with a similar impost (1kg more here) is this five-year-old who should be right at his top fitness-wise now with three solid hit-outs over March and April under the belt.
Given all of his winning form is over the five and six-furlong trips, it's worth forgiving the latest Sha Tin effort on April 11 over 1400m, an event where Shining Gem did have excuses after racing wide from a bad draw, but he wasn't disgraced.
Especially now coming back to 1200m, that performance should've topped him off well and from an inside alley where he should land around midfield, can produce a turn-of-foot late if saved up for one last crack at them.
