Freesia Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Copartner Prance
We were with this four-year-old via his last start breakthrough win over this track/trip and while he's still a work in progress, Copartner Prance is heading in the right direction.
The form has already been franked from that March 13 event, with the fourth-placed Winning Heart bolting in by more than three lengths at his next outing a fortnight later.
The closing sectionals from that Class 4 on March 13 stacked up well for the entire program and trainer Francis Lui has kept the son of Epaulette on the fresh side once again.
At $30+, the returning Roaring Bebe has shown enough in his turf trials to run a race at a big price, but Copartner Prance is a progressive type who can go on with it now.
The Lusitano Challenge Cup Tips (Race 5)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 5 No. 12 Keen Unity
He has mixed his form in Hong Kong, however, the five-year-old hasn't had much luck with barriers, with the gelding drawing wide in most outings and he now jumps from gate three.
Keen Unity stays right down in the weights despite a much improved showing last start, where he sustained a wide run from off the speed to finish second behind Show Respect.
That form received a big boost with Show Respect comfortably handling a rise grade at his next start when taking out a Class 3, while Keen Unity maps for a softer run this evening.
His peak figures stack up well in this competitive line-up and now with three runs under his belt off a decent spell, including two over this track/trip, he should be at his peak.
Freesia Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 6 No. 4 Great Achiever
Even with a 3kg penalty from his last start victory, Winning Heart is still the one to beat, but this it's a nothing race otherwise and Great Achiever is among the each-way hopes.
The Benno Yung-trained galloper has been competitive over five Hong Kong appearances, which included a debut run when recording strong closing splits after spotting them a start.
He bounced off that to finish third at start two and not much has gone his way in three subsequent runs, having covered ground in two of those, while he was held up in the other.
Great Achiever gets some relief after the Jerry Chau claim and with even luck in transit from barrier two off what looks to be an even tempo, he can give this a shake at a decent quote.
Lavender Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 D Star
His last win came in a similar affair back in September, where D Star carried 61kg to victory and after the 2.5kg claim from Angus Chung, he's quite well in this evening with 58.5kg.
The son of Darci Brahma does have a good record in this company and after six runs at Class 3 level, he dropped back to Class 4 grade two starts back, where he was a touch plain.
D Star improved off that March 6 outing when last seen on March 20 and had he drawn kinder via that latest performance, the four-year-old arguably would've saluted there.
From barrier 11, Angus Chung was forced to retreat to the rear early and ride for luck last time, and now jumping from gate two, there's no reason why he can't be a few pairs closer.
Oncidium Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 9 No. 11 Nebraskan
The son of Snitzel arrived in Hong Kong after winning both outings in Australia and interestingly, he makes his debut for John Size at 1200m despite those victories coming over 1000m.
Without being knocked around, Nebraskan has impressed in his lead-up trials via some handy heats and he was under a hold in the latest of those at Sha Tin when covering ground.
Given his strong tactical speed over five furlong dashes, the three-year-old should be able to cross from an outside alley and Sports Legend can follow him across from barrier eleven.
After a slowish start to the season, jockey Karis Teetan has been in decent touch over the last six months, which includes a positive ROI of 13.1% from his 24 winners at Happy Valley.
