Daegu Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 4 No. 4 Grand Nova
It's not a strong race, which the ratings of the exposed gallopers reflect and that opens it right up for the first starters, with Grand Nova getting the nod over Charity For All.
The John Size-trained galloper has improved with every trial, with the last two coming in handy heats and he was well looked after in the March 22 hit-out when finishing midfield.
Although he technically finished last of five in his latest workout at Sha Tin, the three-year-old was under a hold and in traffic, while he was in front 100m after line when picking up.
On breeding, Grand Nova should get over more ground in time, however, he does appear forward enough for 1000m fresh and the Hugh Bowman engagement is another positive.
Incheon Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 6 No. 12 Reliable Profit
Danny Shum is the leading trainer at Happy Valley this season, with 26 winners recorded on this circuit at a healthy strike rate of 15.67% and there's a positive ROI of 32% for punters.
Shum prepares Reliable Profit, a lightly raced five-year-old who is still putting it all together and the grey gives the impression that he'll get over longer distances if he stays sound.
He has improved following a slow start to his career, with a pair fourths among his first six outings and there was merit to his midfield finish on December 29 before a spell.
Reliable Profit had more to offer via his second lead-up trial and in a very open Class 4 to open Wednesday's Happy Valley Quaddie, he's worth including at a big price.
Busan Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 7 No. 7 Glory Cloud
It was a fair debut run from this Caspar Fownes-trained galloper, who tracked into proceedings well over the Sha Tin 1400m before peaking late when a tight gap presented.
Despite a pass mark in that first race day showing, along with a slick tick-over trial, Glory Cloud was sent out as a $20 chance at start two, where the gelding was a big eye-catcher.
The four-year-old was back and wide in that Happy Valley attempt on February 21, and behind an all-the-way winner who saluted well, he was easily the pick of the off-speed brigade.
Glory Cloud bounced back last start after covering ground in a forgivable third outing and from a cold ride off what is predicted to be a good tempo, he's well placed to breakthrough.
Busan Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Golden Long
Although he's better placed this evening coming back to Class 4 level, Golden Long is a progressive type who is likely to make the jump to higher company once he matures.
We were with the three-year-old via a terrific debut win over this track/trip and the half-length defeat two starts later was an underrated performance, where he travelled like the winner.
With the leader dropping out early in that February 15 event, Golden Long was vulnerable a long way out and it took a rival with 8kg less (and a suck run) to reel him in late in the piece.
There's been enough to like about his subsequent runs in stronger races, with the form around his latest affair reading very well for this grade and gate one will help offset the weight.
Seoul Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 9 No. 6 Devildom
He's recorded consistent figures in his four Hong Kong appearances, which included a midfield finish first-up over the 1650m at Happy Valley when on stable debut for Benno Yung.
Devildom still needs to make some improvements to match the peak figures of his rivals, but being lightly raced and now with a solid platform, he has enough upside to achieve that.
The four-year-old was hard to miss via his February 18 return at Sha Tin when making ground against an on-speed pattern and he then should've finished closer in his latest attempt.
He's since been back to the trials and worked well in that April 12 hit-out, where the blinkers were removed but they go back on race night, where he's an each-way chance.
