Happy Valley Tips on December 4th
Longines International Jockeys' 1st Leg Tips (Race 4)
Happy Valley Favourite - Race 4 No. 4 Champion Method
He landed a huge betting move for us last start, with Champion Method saluting as a $3.70 chance over this track/trip after double figure odds were available in the early markets.
The gelding would've been a good thing licked had he not won that November 13 event, where he was held-up at key stages before getting off heels just in time (should've won by a lot further).
Now a three-time winner in this grade, Champion Method only receives a 2kg penalty from that most recent success and he has triumphed in this company with bigger imposts.
As a four-year-old who has completed 15 starts, there's still some upside with the Danny Shum-trained galloper and at $5+, he could easily be a well supported fav once again.
Longines International Jockeys' 2nd Leg Tips (Race 5)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 5 No. 7 Sixth Generation
Although he's drawn out, this son of Per Incanto should be allowed to find his feet early in the last few pairs under Hollie Doyle, with good tempo predicted in this 1650m Class 4 contest.
Sixth Generation has been ticking along fairly in four outings this season, which includes an even effort when in the market two starts back before sustaining a long run when third on the All-Weather circuit.
Especially given the 60kg+ weights that he was carrying when competitive earlier in the year via this grade, Sixth Generation is now very well in for Class 4 level off a 56.5kg mark.
Three of his four career wins have come over this track/trip (all in this grade) and his peak numbers over the last 12 month suggests that he's going well enough to figure here at a bolters quote.
Ireland Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 4 Masterofmyuniverse
Masterofmyuniverse is just being shaded by Smart Fighter for favouritism currently, with early money going on the James McDonald mount from a kinder draw, who is a last start winner.
While there are map concerns with this three-year-old, it's be surprising if he wasn't the best horse to be produced from this race going forward and there's natural improvement to come at start two.
He arguably should've won his debut attempt on November 13, where the gelding was briefly held-up in the straight before charging late and it was encouraging that he took a tight gap.
His main rival has a gun draw, however, it did take Smart Fighter 15 starts to win a Class 4 that went almost two lengths slower than the first race that Masterofmyuniverse contested.
Longines International Jockeys' 3rd Leg Tips (Race 7)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Silo
With four wins and four seconds from eight appearances in Singapore, Silo was very consistent before coming to Hong Kong and he has been competitive in the new jurisdiction.
Although he's hasn't saluted in six tries for the Mark Newnham stable, the entire has still been thereabouts and he was luckless on debut for the new yard, which was his biggest defeat.
Silo has been respected in the market via his last three runs, with the latest tilt a midfield finish over this track/trip and he arrived to that November 20 event off a second at Sha Tin.
There were excuses in the two-length loss a fortnight ago, where two runners tired in the three-wide running line ahead of him and as a result, he had no rivals taking him into the race.
Japan Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 9 No. 8 Stunning Peach
With Group placings (two at Group 1 level) recorded either side of 1600m triumph when campaigning in Europe, this son of Wooden Bassett arrived to Hong Kong with a handy resume.
Zac Purton has been aboard Stunning Peach in all four runs for the John Size stable, with the champion hoop persisting despite the gelding underperforming via his Hong Kong debut.
He quickly atoned from that April 28 performance, with a runner-up finish followed by a third-up victory on June 8 when stepping up to 1800m and he rises to nine furlongs this evening.
Stunning Peach was terrific in his seasonal resumption when rattling home late over the Sha Tin mile off a very quiet steer and he has completed two tick-over trials since that October 20 appearance.
