Happy Valley Tips on April 17th
Mount Butler Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 9 Parents' Love
Although the beaten margins don't reflect it, his best Hong Kong performance came at Happy Valley via his second start, where the gelding caught the eye late in a leader dominated race.
That February 15 outing followed an even debut performance at Sha Tin back in November, while Parents' Love was freshened and sent back to the trials after a start three flop.
He played up behind the barriers ahead of that failed attempt and proved difficult to load, however, the three-year-old was switched on when taking out a subsequent trial here.
Parents' Love is well bred, being by Deep Field and out of a half-sister to Starspangledbanner (four-time Group 1 winner) and out to 1200m here, he gets his chance from a low draw.
Siu Ma Shan Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 4 No. 9 Gold Tack
The son of Preferment was racing consistently at the back-end of last season, which culminated with a pair of placing over this track/trip, while he finished fourth on return over 1200m.
There have been excuses in two outings following a flat second-up performance, with Gold Tack held-up at stages third-up before getting back and being unsuited in slowly run affair.
Blinkers were applied for that March 13 assignment and that gear change was also in effect via a subsequent 1600m trial, where he completed a solid workout at Sha Tin.
A good tempo is predicted in this Class 4 contest, which will allow Gold Tack settle midfield or a shade worse and with a tow into this late, he can chime in at the business end.
Bowen Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Wings Of War
He appeared to have every chance last time out when beaten half a length, however, it was still a decent chasing effort from Wings Of War, who is bursting to win a race.
The grey has held form in three outings after a freshen-up, with multiple winners produced from his February events and via his latest appearance, he did run into Colourful Emperor.
That in-form winner made it back-to-back victories in that March 20 event and with a 2kg penalty, he was denied a hat-trick last Wednesday by Sports Legend, who is progressive.
It's D-Day now for Wings Of War, a five-year-old who has easily the best last start figure in this field and from barrier four under Harry Bentley, he maps for a nice run in transit.
Mount Cameron Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 8 No. 11 To Infinity
This Jamie Richards-trained galloper hasn't done a whole lot wrong this season, with his biggest defeat coming on December 6 here and he was badly held-up on that occasion.
To Infinity bounced from that to win a fortnight later with a half a kilo more than he carries this evening and he defeated Red Hare King (subsequent Class 3 winner) in that triumph.
While he was plain following that victory, the son of Darci Brahma performed better in two subsequent outings, but the gelding was unsuited each time (drew out in both runs).
In what developed into a sprint home over this track/trip on March 27, To Infinity was left flat-footed initially before picking up late and he can settle closer here from gate two.
Magazine Gap Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Favourite - Race 9 No. 2 Quantum Patch
The son of Gleneagles could easily have another win or two on the board, as he has been unlucky on multiple occasions outside of a track/trip success in this grade back in November.
Quantum Patch was held-up for most the run home two starts back over seven furlongs at Sha Tin and while he handles both circuits, his better form has come at Happy Valley.
He was completely unsuited two starts back when back in the field via a slowly run race, however, he was only beaten two lengths and he again spotted them a start last time out.
Despite never being in winning calculations, Quantum Patch was hard to miss in that March 27 run, where he overcame a chequered path to grab third and he now jumps from barrier two.
