Sha Tin Wai Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Sha Tin Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Golden Long

He hasn't saluted since recording a stylish debut victory at Happy Valley just over 12 months ago, however, Golden Long has been mostly competitive in seven subsequent appearances.

After two attempts at Class 3 level (in the market both times), the Frankie Lor-trained galloper dropped back to Class 4 company at end of his first prep for a fourth-of-eleven finish.

Golden Long is third-up this evening after two tries on the Sha Tin All-Weather circuit and he's placed in both outings, which includes a second when covering ground via his first-up tilt.

He was slow way last start, which is quite common when blinkers are first applied and with J-Mac taking the reins, he's well-placed vs a last start Class 5 winner (Vulcanus) who heads the early market.

Sha Tin Roughie - Race 5 No. 7 Pochettino

Excel Wongchoy is a deserving fav, with the in-form market elect bringing what are easily the best recent figures in this field and those ratings have come on the Sha Tin All-Weather track.

$20+ is available for Pochenttino and the son of Highland Reel has shown enough in three Hong Kong runs, with the pick of those coming last start when stepping up to seven furlongs.

He's been give some time since that October 20 outing and ahead of what looks an ideal assignment over 1650m here, the gelding has completed two trials on the All-Weather surface.

Pochenttino needs to improve a little on exposed figures, although there's the platform to achieve that given he's lightly raced and now getting up to what is a more suitable distance range.

Ngan Shing Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Sha Tin Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Tale Of Perth

There was more merit to his first two Hong Kong efforts than what they read on paper, especially the 1400m run when second-up (found trouble at key stage) after settling at the rear.

While another wide barrier forced him back once again when switching to the All-Weather circuit third-up, Tale Of Perth did make inroads from well back in that last start performance.

The lightly raced five-year-old now rises sharply in trip to 1650m, but that looks a positive going off recent attempts and his breeding also suggests that middle distances will favour him.

Tale Of Perth is a half-brother to three-time stakes winner, Alsephina, who has prevailed at Group level over 1800m and while he's now up in the weights, the drop in grade does suit.

Siu Lek Yuen Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Sha Tin Favourite - Race 7 No. 1 Dancing Code

He's won two of his last three tries in this grade, which includes a Happy Valley success last year when carrying 61kg, so the impost shouldn't worry Dancing Code in this fourth-up tilt.

The Caspar Fownes-trained galloper has been campaigning in stronger races since his last victory, with multiple Class 2 placings recorded last season, along with a third at Class 1 level.

Dancing Code failed to finish off second-up this campaign after racing keenly in a 1200m Class 2 at Happy Valley and he's been competitive either side of that October 27 performance.

The main query is the surface, but arguably his best trial was recorded earlier this year on the Conghua All-Weather when defeating Sight Success (dual Group winner) in good time for a 1200m heat.

Yuen Chau Kok Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Sha Tin Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Fighting Machine

Talents Ambition and Fighting Machine bring the same recent form lines, and with more in the favour of the latter, he can turn the tables on Talents Ambition from their latest clash.

Fighting Machine covered ground in that December 1 outing and while his key threat came from behind him in the run on that occasion, the winner didn't do as much work as the runner-up.

We only need to go back two starts to find the son of War Decree defeating his main rival home in a similar affair and Fighting Machine is likely to have the tactical edge in this contest.

There's also a decent enough weight swing favouring the five-year-old, with a 2kg turnaround from a race that he arguably would've won anyway had he enjoyed a few more favours in the run.
