Midweek racing fans are in for a treat this evening, as the Curragh stages their popular Junefest Handicap card from 4:30pm. We've taken a closer look at the four major races on this evening's card and picked out our best betting tips.

Curragh Tips - Wednesday 2nd June

Race 3 - Ballyogan Stakes Tips

Sonaiyla was Group One placed at the Curragh last season, and returned to action with a fine third in Group Two company eleven days ago. Paddy Twomey's mare is clearly the one to beat, but I'd rather take an each-way punt on TERESA MENDOZA.

Ken Condon's filly beat Monaasib here on debut last season, and was only narrowly beaten by New Treasure in the Round Tower Stakes second time out. Having failed to stay seven furlongs on her final juvenile outing, Teresa Mendoza dropped back to five-and-a-half furlongs on her reappearance at Cork, and kept on well from the rear to finish third behind impressive winner, Measure Of Magic.

Three-year-olds have won five of the last ten renewals of this Group Three, and Teresa Mendoza can make the most of that eight-pound weight-for-age allowance.

Race 4 - Junefest Handicap Tips

SWISS ACE was forced to carry top-weight as she made her handicap debut at Naas last month. Aidan O'Brien's filly recovered from a poor start and was still travelling nicely at the half-way stage. Wayne Lordon's mount was then squeezed out of contention as the field hit the elbow, and could only stay on to claim fifth.

Notoriously Risky, who was second, finished six lengths ahead of Swiss Ace that day. O'Brien's filly was, however, giving her rival at stone at the weights, and there will be just nine pounds between them this evening. If first-time blinkers do the trick, I see no reason why Swiss Ace can't outrun her odds.

Race 5 - Orby Stakes Tips

LOUGH DERG won on his only juvenile start, and has twice finished behind Bolshoi Ballet in Group Threes so far this season. Aidan O'Brien's charge finished fourth in the Ballysax, and stayed on well to place ahead of Mac Swiney and Fernando Vichi when second in the Derby Trial.

O'Brien would love to see his charge claim victory before heading onto the Irish Derby, and it's hard to see beyond this son of Galileo with that three-year-old allowance in his favour.

Race 6 - Race To The Ebor Handicap Tips

I'm quite keen on the chances of SHOSHONE WARRIOR, who makes his first start for Joseph O'Brien today. While in the care of his father, Aidan, this Galileo colt won on his reappearance over a mile-and-a-half last season, and finished a very close second in the Petingo Handicap during Irish Champions Weekend.

Shoshone Warrior will again run off a mark of 100, and Mikey Sheehy takes a valuable five pounds of Joseph recruit's back. The first-time tongue-tie could help too.
