Day four of the Galway Festival is headlined by one of the biggest betting races of the week, the Guinness Galway Hurdle. Red Damsel won the first running of this two-mile handicap back in 1913 and a capacity field of 20 runners will line up on Thursday's renewal.

We've taken a look through the Galway Hurdle odds and gathered some key trends before picking out our best bets.

Willie Mullins runs three as he looks for his fifth victory in the Galway Hurdle and I really fancy the chances of CIEL DE NEIGE, who'll be ridden by Paul Townend.

Ciel De Neige has proven himself a very consistent hurdler since joining Mullins' stable, finishing outside the top five places just three times in ten starts, and two of those defeats came in successive editions of the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Mullins' six-year-old has placed in the 2019 Boodles Handicap, the 2020 Betfair Hurdle and on his last start over two-and-a-half-miles at the Punchestown Festival.

Jody McGarvey smuggled Ciel De Neige into the race brilliantly at Punchestown. Just when it seemed they had seen off The Shunter and Cape Gentleman, stablemate Koshari came flying home down the outside and snatched victory.

Ciel De Neige has been pushed up the handicap by four pounds following that run, but that shouldn't stop him mounting a serious challenge in this wide-open handicap.

2021 Galway Hurdle Tip 2

Annexation E/W2021 Galway Hurdle Tip 2GET 16/1 HERE
18+ only. Ts and Cs apply. Gamble responsibly.

ANNEXATION was backed into favouritism for the O'Leary's Insurance Handicap at the Galway Festival last year, and ran a very good race when finishing a half-length second.

A winning debut over hurdles followed, before Henry De Bromhead's five-year-old finished second behind N'golo in the Grade Three Hurdle at Navan in November.

After a couple of poor performances, Annexation produced a career-best performance at Kilbeggan last time out, powering clear of the favourite to win a handicap off a generous mark of 131. De Bromhead's gelding enters this handicap off 140, but Hugh Morgan's claimer means he will shoulder just 10-4, and there seems to be more progression to come.

Ciel De Neige and Annexation are our best two bets in Thursday's Galway Hurdle.
