Irish Champions Weekend kicks off with an excellent card at Leopardstown on Saturday. The main event on the card is the Irish Champion Stakes, a Group One which has been won by legendary horses like Dylan Thomas, Golden Horn and Sea The Stars.

2022 Irish Champion Stakes Entries
Having won the Prix du Jockey Club and the Coral-Eclipse this season, Vadeni is the favourite to make a winning Irish debut on Saturday. Christophe Soumillon's mount will attempt to follow in the foosteps of former stablemate Almanzor, who landed this prize in 2016 before going on to win the Arc.
Mishriff finished a luckless second to Vadeni in the Coral-Eclipse and travels to Leopardstown in the back of a clear second behind Baaeed at York. Aidan O'Brien, winner of the last three Irish Champions Stakes, throws top three-year-old Luxembourg into the mix.
Vadeni will be joined by fellow French raider, Onesto in the field on day one of Irish Champions Weekend. Fellow Group One winners, La Petite Coco and Alenquer have also been handed entries.
