Punters are celebrating this afternoon thanks to Desert Crown’s impressive Cazoo Derby victory.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained star was the hugely popular favourite for the Epsom Classic, going off as the 5/2 favourite. Richard Kingscote's mount powered to an impressive two-and-a-half length victory, leaving bookmakers Ladbrokes lamenting it as the worst result in the book.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes told RacingInsider.com: “Punters are well and truly raising a glass to Desert Crown this afternoon after his impressive Derby victory. He was an extremely popular favourite and by far the worst result in the book so definitely a day we would rather forget.”

Ladbrokes were taken by Desert Crown's classy performance, making him the new favourite for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Desert Crown is now 3/1 from 10/1 to win Europe's richest flat race, ahead of unlucky Oaks runner-up, Emily Upjohn.

Ladbrokes betting for the 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
3/1 Desert Crown, 6/1 Emily Upjohn, 8/1 Hurricane Lane, 10/1 Baaeed, 12/1 Tuesday, Bay Bridge, 14/1 bar
