Saturday's Grand Cup Stakes at York offers not only a first prize of ~£40,000 but also a coveted spot in the Ebor Handicap. Al Qareem leads the odds as favorite, with strong contenders like Gregory, Arabian Force, and Mount Atlas in the mix. The event features top jockeys and recent form runners, making it highly competitive. Bettors should watch out for Al Qareem and Mount Atlas’s renewed rivalry, while other entries, including Tiffany and Epic Poet, could also surprise. Key recommendation: Al Qareem remains the one to beat based on recent form.

2026 Grand Cup Stakes Entries

Al Qareem thrashed Absurde to win this race 12 months ago. Karl Burke's star returned to action with a hard-fought victory at Musselburgh, before a limp performance against Jan Brueghel in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester.

James Doyle has been confirmed in the saddle of former Queens Vase winner Gregory, who has only run once in the last 18 months. William Haggas will be represented by Arabian Force, who steps back up in trip after a third-place finish behind Kalpana on his return at Newbury.

Mount Atlas pushed Al Qareem all the way to the line in the Goliath Cup, and renews rivalries with the favourite after an excellent second in the Ormonde Stakes. Sir Mark Precott has entered Group Two-winning mare Tiffany, with former Melrose Handicap winner Tabletalk a likely runner for Tom Clover.

Danny Tudhope and David O'Meara will team up with the globetrotting Epic Poet. Jessica Harrington's Green Impact also features in the entries, along with Olly Murphy's Roaring Legend and Prydwen for George Scott.
