Merchant Navy pleases new trainer Aidan O'Brien in preparation for Royal Ascot.
The three-year-old colt by Fastnet Rock was purchased for $A27 million to Coolmore last December after finishing third behind Redkirk Warrior in the Newmarket Handicap and he's set to make his European debut this June.
O'Brien is confident with the five-time winner and he could have a run at Curragh before heading to the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saturday June 24.
"He is in good form and he is getting ready to go to Ascot," O'Brien said.
"We've not had him too long and he might have a run on Irish Guineas weekend. If not he will work around that time and go straight to Ascot for the Diamond Jubilee."
Time on the race track will be limited for Merchant Navy, which is set to return to Australia for stud duties later this year but he has settled into life at Ballydoyle well.
"He is going to be here for Ascot, but I'm not sure if he can be here for the July Cup as he has stallion obligations in Australia and has to be back in time to start for that," O'Brien said.

Merchant Navy is currently 12/1 in the betting for the Royal Ascot feature with Redkirk Warrior at 6/1 and current favourite Harry Angel at the top of the book at 4/1.
