Star Australian sprinter Redkirk Warrior has impressed in a recent trial in preparation for Royal Ascot.
The Lindsay Park-trained import is preparation for the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and the seven-length trial win was an encouraging effort.
A multiple Group 1 winner in Australia, Redkirk Warrior was scratched from the Lightning Stakes due to the track conditions and was given a trial instead.
He used blinkers during the trial to better prepare the gelding for Royal Ascot.
"I left them on for this trial because he missed the start in the Lightning," Hayes said.
"He jumped well and he won't have the blinkers on again until he races."
The form of Australian runners was shown when Merchant Navy took out the Group 2 Greenland Stakes at Curragh over the weekend. The win only strengthened the case of the overseas raiders at Royal Ascot.
"It goes to show that the Aussie sprinters are right up there again," Hayes said.
"I've got great respect for Merchant Navy and it's nice that we beat him last start and meet him quite a lot better at the weights."
Jockey Regan Bayliss won't make the trip to Royal Ascot but was on board during the trial.
"I've never seen his coat look any better and he was really in the zone," Bayliss said.
"He had his ears pricked the whole way and was enjoying his trial.
"I gave him a click-up and he quickened up over the final furlong-and-a-half and stretched out really well.
"He's pulled up terrific and I wish the connections all the best for Ascot."
Redkirk Warrior is a specialist over the straight-six and looks a value chance at 7/1.
