Champion trainer Aidan O'Brien has given unprecedented claim to current Epsom Derby favourite Saxon Warrior.
The Irish trainer has given the vote of confidence to the Epsom Derby elect, which brings in some strong breeding lines and looks a natural staying type in the making.
"He’s a very strong blend of Danehill, Galileo and Deep Impact. We haven’t had anything like him before. He’s exciting," O'Brien said.
"We are happy with Saxon Warrior and it’s so far, so good with all the possibles.
"We always thought he was a very high-quality colt and he’s done everything right so far."
O'Brien isn't sure how many runners Ballydoyle will line up in next month's feature race at Epsom, which could include the likes of Kew Gardens, Delano Roosevelt, The Pentagon Zabriskie.
The decision will ultimately be left up to the Coolmore ownership team.
"It depends upon what the lads (owners Coolmore) want to do, really, but obviously all those horses are born, bred and raised to be Derby horses," O'Brien said.
"Obviously if they’re in good shape and they’re well, the lads like to give them their chance, like they did last year.
"I’m not sure what they’re really thinking at the moment.
"The lads haven’t got together and spoke about what they want to do. I think that will happen towards the end of the week."
