Race 1 - CASTELLO CAMPANULA (14)
Trainer Alan Greeff holds a strong hand in this contest and can saddle the first two past the post. CASTELLO CAMPANULA produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on the polytrack, six weeks ago. She was slow into stride, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Flower Alley would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.
Race 2 - PARIS OPERA (2)
PARIS OPERA is a filly taking on the males. She has good consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that Joint Effort has come out and won again since. She has finished second in both her efforts over this C&D. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 5 - SACRED IBIS (5)
SACRED IBIS finished 2.25 lengths behind CANA last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is back against her own sex this afternoon and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
Race 6 - LADY DEFIANCE (4)
LADY DEFIANCE is one of the better bets on today’s card. Her last start over 1400m on this course caught the eye when she finished her race off strongly. The daughter of I Am Invincible will love the step up to the 1800m. The blinkers get re-fitted this afternoon and with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle, she should be the one to beat.
Race 9 - GOLD ROCK (1)
GOLD ROCK raced from a handy position over 1800m last time, but found one too good in the form of Cairon. He has finished second five times and third once from seven starts on this course. The son of Pomodoro meets the right field this afternoon and he can notch up his third career victory.
