South African Horse Racing fans have a feast of racing to enjoy today, with Turffontein and Durbanville hosting high-quality meetings.

To help you try and find a few winners, here's which horses Magic Tips has tipped up at Turffontein and Durbanville on the HollywoodBets Blog this morning.

Durbanville Tips - Saturday 9th October

Race 1 - POLTERGEIST (4)

POLTERGEIST has produced two good efforts to date. The son of Silvano should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be switched at the 200m mark. He is a progressive type and in this line-up, he should shed his maiden tag.

Race 2 - MY BESTIE (4)

MY BESTIE’S last four starts have been good. He was slow into stride over 1400m last time, but ran on well to finish third behind a highly-rated sort. He finished 0.75 lengths behind SACHDEV in his penultimate effort. He is 3kgs better off at the weights this afternoon and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he can return to winning ways.

Race 3 - WHAT A BLIZZARD (10)

WHAT A BLIZZARD showed very good improvement when finishing second over 1000m on this course, three weeks ago. She showed good speed that day, but found one too good in the form of Arctic Ice. The daughter of What A Winter tries the 1250m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should go one better.

Race 4 - CHARLIE SQUADRON (3)

CHARLIE SQUADRON moved up like a winner last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the son of Coup De Grace and from his good draw of three, he can shed his maiden tag.

Race 5 - SHE’S A RAINBOW (11)

SHE’S A RAINBOW produced a promising debut effort over 1250m on this course. She showed good speed, understandably raced green but stayed on nicely to finish third. The daughter of Silvano found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work back at home.

Turffontein Tips - Saturday 9th October

Race 2 - SMORGASBORD (6)

SMORGASBORD raced from a handy position in the Non-Black Type Winter Juvenile Stakes last time, but found one too good in the form of Grade 1 winner Rain In Holland. The son of Twice Over returns from an 18-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He is the best weighted runner in this contest and from his good draw of two, he should take a power of beating.

Race 4 - INDUS KNIGHT (6)

INDUS KNIGHT produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He was green in running, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Flower Alley would have come on with the run under his belt and with the natural progression that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

Race 5 - DESERT MIRACLE (4)

DESERT MIRACLE was super-impressive when winning the Grade 2 Golden Slipper last time. Despite racing wide around the turn, she took the lead at the 400m mark and quickened away from the opposition in fine fashion. The daughter of Dynasty returns from a 14-week break which may have done her the world of good. She has a lot of class about her and should notch up the hat-trick.

Race 6 - FIRE FLOWER (5)

FIRE FLOWER was running on well over 1600m on this course last time. She has won once and finished third three times from six starts over this distance. The 5yo mare meets a similar type of field this afternoon and with regular rider Kabelo Matsunyane in the saddle, she can return to winning ways.

Race 9 - BOLD ACT (4)

BOLD ACT was not disgraced when finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Thekwini Stakes last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Act Of War returns from a 10-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She looks to have plenty of ability and from pole position, can return to winning ways.
