Race 1 - WINGS OF NIKE (10)
WINGS OF NIKE did not see out the 1200m in her last start. She showed good pace, but did not go on with the effort. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Var will love the drop to 1000m and with Joe Gwingwizha in the saddle, she should be the one to beat.
Race 3 - BLONDE ACT (2)
BLONDE ACT has shown good improvement in his last two starts. He stayed on nicely at the finish when second behind Madabout Fashion. The son of Act Of War is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. S’manga Khumalo knows him well and he can shed his maiden tag.
Race 4 - INDIGO WINTER (6)
INDIGO WINTER produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. She was slow into stride, green and reported to be blowing post race. The daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and should love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.
Race 5 - MANTERIO (1)
MANTERIO has finished second in his last three starts. The son of Oratorio makes his debut for the Ashley Fortune stable. He gets the services of strong rider S’manga Khumalo who may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 7 - ROYAL ESCAPADE (3)
ROYAL ESCAPADE showed good signs of a form return over 1600m on the Classic course last time. He raced from a handy position that day and tried hard all the way to the line. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should strip much fitter today and from his good draw of three, he should go one better.
